Team Information, Match Preview, and Arsenal vs Barcelona Lineups
Arsenal
The Gunners have struggled during their preparation period thus far having won only once in four matches. The last game was a loss to Manchester United. Manager Mikel Arteta is happy how the club's management strengthen the team having spent a vast amount of money to get Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber. Granit Xaka and Pablo Mari remain the only meaningful departures from last season's team. There are a few injury problems with the team at the current time: Oleksandr Zinchenko and Mohamed Elneny are out at the moment.
Potential lineup: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, Havertz, Rice, Odegaard, Martinelli, Nketiah, Saka.
Barcelona
The Catalan club's summer has been scuppered by yet again, financial problems. The only fee that was paid involved Oriol Romeu coming over from Girona. Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez have joined on a free transfer. Antoine Griezmann made his move to Atletico Madrid officially permanently while Trincao was sold to Sporting Lisbon. Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Samuel Umtiti left as their contracts expired. At the current time, Barcelona's top brass is trying to find affordable players on the market, but those discussions are not going according to plan. Barcelona defeated Vissel Kobe in their only friendly match so far.
Potential lineup: Pena, Araujo, de Jong, Garcia, Alonso, Prim, Kessie, Torre, Rodriguez, Lewandowski, Fati.
Player to Watch: Gabriel Jesus
The Brazilian striker has been a tremendous signing for Arsenal last summer and one of the key players in their assault on the title which was later taken by Manchester City. However, that fact didn't minimize the important effect that Gabriel Jesus had on Arsenal's results and the return to the Champions League for this season.
In total, Jesus scored eleven goals with eight assists in 33 appearances for the club and those numbers would most likely be even higher had he didn't have an injury setback during the season. Gabriel is a regular on Brazil's national team as well having been capped 59 times and scoring 19 goals.
Starting lineups
