Arsenal transfer news: Seven clubs circle Ethan Nwaneri after Marseille loan

Arsenal are open to selling Ethan Nwaneri this summer, with no fewer than seven clubs understood to be weighing up a move for the 19-year-old.

Nwaneri joined Marseille on a six-month loan in January, without a purchase option, after failing to break into the first-team rotation at Arsenal. He made an encouraging start under Roberto De Zerbi, earning a number of starts in his early appearances, but his playing time dropped considerably following Habib Beye's appointment as manager.

The England youth international has managed two goals from 11 appearances in all competitions for the French club, and has not featured from the start in either of Marseille's last two Ligue 1 fixtures, a 1-1 draw with Nice and a 3-0 defeat at Nantes.

Regardless of how Nwaneri's remaining weeks in Marseille unfold, he is set to return to Arsenal at the end of the season. However, according to The Daily Briefing, the club's hierarchy are open to a permanent sale rather than another loan arrangement for the attacking midfielder, who is contracted at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030.

Valued at £34.7m (€40m) by Transfermarkt, Nwaneri is expected to command a significant fee, and Caught Offside report that Arsenal will seek between £39m and £39.1m (€40-45m) for his services.

Four of the seven interested parties are based in England, with Chelsea confirmed as one of them and three further Premier League clubs yet to be identified. Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan have also registered their interest, while Borussia Dortmund complete the picture as the sole German suitor.

Arsenal are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, meaning Nwaneri's departure would not disrupt their preparations for the club's most significant game in recent memory.
