Correct score prediction: Alaves 1-2 Sevilla

Sevilla are brimming with confidence ahead of this clash after stringing together a three-game unbeaten run (W2, D1). They are up against an Alaves side that suffered four defeats in their last six matches across all competitions.

Keeping in mind that Sevilla earned a 2-1 victory over Alaves at this stadium a couple of months ago, we believe that the visitors will extend their unbeaten run to four matches after all is said and done.

Deportivo Alaves are coming off a 2-1 home defeat against Real Madrid. They eliminated CD Getxo and Portugalete in the previous two rounds of the Copa del Rey.

On the other hand, Sevilla cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Real Oviedo in La Liga last season. Their previous two Copa del Rey fixtures were against lower-tiered opponents like Toledo and Extremadura.

Ahead of this encounter, Alaves are the expected winners at 7/5 (2.40). Teams with these odds usually have a 41.7% probability of winning.

Alaves preview: Clean bill of health

Alaves head coach Eduardo Coudet will be pleased to enter this clash against Sevilla with an injury-free squad after veteran midfielder Jon Guridi recovered from his health problem and made it to the bench in the clash against Real Madrid on Sunday night.

Facing a top-flight team in this Copa del Rey round, Coudet is expected to name a strong XI, one likely resembling the side that faced Los Blancos last time out.

Predicted lineup: Sivera (GK), Otto, Tenaglia, Pacheco, Parada, Blanco, Calebe, Ibanez, Suarez, Rebbach & Boye.

Last five matches

  • Alaves 1-2 Real Madrid
  • Alaves 1-0 Real Sociedad
  • Portugalete 0-3 Alaves
  • Barcelona 3-1 Alaves
  • Alaves 0-1 Celta Vigo

Sevilla preview: Plaguer by injuries

Sevilla, on the other hand, have lots of injury problems going into this game, as Orjan Nyland, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Vargas, Alfon Gonzalez, Tanguy Nianzou, and Adnan Januzaj are all ruled out, while the likes of Gabriel Suazo, Marcao, and Kike Salas still have fitness issues to deal with.

The Nigerian contingent in the squad – Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke – who both scored in the 4-0 thrashing of Real Oviedo on Sunday, will be unavailable for Sevilla until at least January, as both players have travelled to join the Super Eagles team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Predicted lineup: Vlachodimos (GK), Oso, Salas, Cardoso, Carmona, Gudelj, Agoume, Jordan, Romero, Gonzalez & A. Sanchez.

Last five matches

  • Sevilla 4-0 Real Oviedo
  • Valencia 1-1 Sevilla
  • Extremadura 1-2 Sevilla
  • Sevilla 0-2 Real Betis
  • Espanyol 2-1 Sevilla
