Ajax vs PSV Top Betting Predictions and Odds
The biggest derby in Dutch football will be one of the highlights of this weekend's matches across European leagues.
Ajax to Win
Ajax won both of their matches last season including a 5-0 drubbing in Amsterdam, but PSV has won the last two matches. The first one was a 2-1 win in the final of the Dutch Cup, and more recently, before the start of the current season, PSV won in the Super Cup with an incredible 5-3 scoreline. However, PSV is stumbling away from home, they lost three out of their last four matches.
Over 2.5 Goals
Matches between these giants of Dutch football are usually full of excitement, and the way they are excelling in front of the opposition goal this season should be enough of a guarantee that we will see another great match. Seven of their last eight matches ended with more than two goals scored.
Preview and key information about Ajax vs PSV
Ajax needs a win to recover from a Champions League failure
Ajax didn't play well in this season's Champions League, they suffered some bad losses, especially the one against Napoli at home. The first part of the Champions League season is ending this week, so the focus will remain on their last few domestic games before the season shuts down because of the World Cup. Winning against their biggest domestic rivals could come a long way in giving the Ajax team some leverage for the next part of the season. Ajax had only one setback at home domestically, a couple of weeks ago they played out a surprising draw against the Go Ahead Eagles which brought down their perfect record at home.
Ajax potential starting 11: Pasveer, Sanchez, Timber, Blind, Bassey, Klaassen, Alvarez, Berghuis, Bergwijn, Brobbey, Tadic.
PSV is one of only two teams who are perfect at home this season. Unfortunately for them, this will be an away game which means trouble for coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. They lost three out of their past four away matches, and two of those were quite surprising against Cambuur with the scoreline of 3-0, while Groningen got a 4-2 win. Defending wise, PSV has dropped a significant level from the start of the season, and they need to get that composure back before they suffer another setback in Amsterdam. Cody Gakpo has been drawing more interest from the biggest clubs in Europe, he has been the best player in the league this season with 9 goals and 11 assists to his name.
PSV's potential starting 11: Benitez, Mwene, Obispo, Ramalho, Teze, Gutierrez, Veerman, Gakpo, Simons, El-Ghazi, de Jong.
Ajax: No news to report.
PSV: No issues with the Eindhoven outfit.
