Young Boys vs Servette prediction: A narrow victory for the hosts
Key Stats
- The last match between Young Boys and Servette finished 0-0.
- Four of Servette's last six competitive away matches have produced fewer than three goals.
- Young Boys have won eight of their last nine competitive home matches.
Correct score prediction: Young Boys 1-0 Servette
These two teams are very evenly matched and neither of them have been able to record a convincing win over the other in any of the last eight meetings between them. This will be a tight and tense affair, and the early-season rustiness won't help.

Young Boys preview: The return of Fernandes
The only signing that Young Boys have made so far this summer is the re-acquisition of Edmilson Fernandes. The Swiss midfielder previously played for the club on loan during the 2021/22 season, and three years later, he has finally made the permanent switch to the club. Whether he alone will be enough to close the gap on Basel this season remains to be seen.

Servette preview: Dilemmas for Haberli
Servette manager, Thomas Haberli, has some difficult decisions to make ahead of the club's first league game of the season. The match is sandwiched between their two legs against Plzen in the second round of Champions League qualifying, and given they won the first leg 1-0, he will be keen to have his squad fresh for the return leg.

Player to watch: Alan Virginius

Although some players are able to hit the ground running straight away when they sign for a new club, others need a season to get used to new surroundings. Young Boys fans will be hoping that Alan Virginius has had that time now and will kick on to better things this season. In his debut campaign, the French forward only managed two goals.
