Double chance: Wolves or Draw

Wolves are unbeaten in four games.

Newcastle return to Premier League action after losing 2-0 at home to Manchester City in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final in midweek. They will travel to Molineux to face Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

The Wanderers are still bottom of the Premier League table, but have picked up positive results in recent weeks. Nonetheless, this should be an intriguing encounter, with Newcastle's away form this season not the best.

Wolves vs Newcastle prediction: Wanderers to keep remarkable unbeaten run?

Key stats

  • Wolves have won their last two home games.
  • Newcastle have won just once in four away matches.
  • Wolves' last seven home H2Hs have seen both teams score.

Correct score prediction: Wolves 1-1 Newcastle

Wolves' recent upturn in results, coupled with Newcastle exerting energy in midweek, gives the hosts a chance here. Newcastle have also struggled on the road this season, so we are backing a positive result for the Wanderers.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Newcastle favourites with bookmakers

  • HOME: 17/5 (4.40) – 22.7%
  • DRAW: 3/1 (4.00) – 25.0%
  • AWAY: 7/10 (1.70) – 58.8%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Newcastle have been installed as the favourites with bookmakers to claim all three points on their travels. A draw can still be backed at 25% though, while a Wolves win is rated at just under 23%.

Most recent H2Hs: Newcastle on top

Newcastle have won the last four H2Hs, although three were at St. James' Park. There have also been plenty of goals at Molineux for both sides in recent meetings, which should give Wolves some encouragement in terms of trying to get a positive result.

Jorgen Strand Larsen could earn a recall back into the starting XI after scoring a hat-trick for Wolves in their 6-1 thrashing of Shrewsbury at Molineux in the third round of the FA Cup last time out. He could also make his last appearance for the club against Newcastle, after being linked with a move to Leeds.
