Wolfsburg vs Augsburg predictions: Both teams to score

Key stats

  • Wolfsburg are without a win in their last five matches.
  • The home side have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 16 games.
  • Five of the last seven Augsburg matches went below the 4.5-card threshold.

Correct score prediction: Wolfsburg 1-2 Augsburg

The threat of relegation looms large for Die Wolfe as they continue to struggle in 2026 under Daniel Bauer.

They avoided a fourth defeat in a row last week when they drew 2-2 against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga but have picked up only one win in their last seven games.

In contrast, Augsburg have won three of their last four games and have lost only once in their last six, which suggests they carry a lot of confidence at the moment.

At least three goals were scored in five of Wolfsburg's last seven matches, and thus we predict the visitors to pick up a 2-1 win.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Wolfsburg priced as favourites

  • HOME: 1/1 (2.0) – 50%
  • DRAW: 5/2 (3.5) – 28.6%
  • AWAY: 5/2 (3.5) – 28.6%

*Odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Despite Wolfsburg's poor form, it is a big surprise that the bookies have still priced them as favourites at 1/1 (2.0), with 50% chances of winning.

Wolfsburg have failed to keep a clean sheet against Augsburg in their last seven meetings, and expect both teams to score, with BTTS – Yes at 3/5 (1.6) looks attractive.

Augsburg have scored first in six of their last seven games against Wolfsburg, and back them to do it again at 11/8 (2.38) on Saturday.

Most recent H2Hs: Impressive Augsburg form

The visitors have not lost their last seven games against Wolfsburg and won the reverse fixture 3-1.

Interestingly, Wolfsburg have failed to keep a clean sheet against them in their previous seven games, and it would need a strong effort from them to pick up a positive result.

Wolfsburg preview: Desperately need three points

Wolfsburg have won only two home games this season, scoring 17 goals, and that needs to change if they want to escape the threat of relegation.

The defence remains the major worry, having conceded 23 goals at home this season, and failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 16 matches.

The home side are missing a number of defenders this weekend, such as centre-back Cleiton, who is struggling with an ankle injury. Both left-backs Joakim Maehle (shoulder) and Rogerio (muscle), as well as right-back Kilian Fischer (groin), are also sidelined.

To add more misery, centre-back Jenson Seelt is a doubt due to a knee injury, while Aaron Zehnter and Kevin Paredes could also miss this fixture due to injury problems and illness respectively.

Predicted lineup: Grabara (GK), Kumbedi, Vavro, Jenz, Belocian, Eriksen, Arnold, Daghim, Majer, Shiogai & Pejcinovic

Last five matches

  • 15/02/26: RB Leipzig 2-2 Wolfsburg (Bundesliga)
  • 07/02/26: Wolfsburg 1-2 Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga)
  • 30/01/26: FC Koln 1-0 Wolfsburg (Bundesliga)
  • 24/01/26: Mainz 05 3-1 Wolfsburg (Bundesliga)
  • 17/01/26: Wolfsburg 1-1 Heidenheim (Bundesliga)

Augsburg preview: Can they maintain their impressive recent form?

Under Sandro Wagner, Augsburg showed very little progress and many feared the prospect of relegation. However, the situation has changed dramatically under Manuel Baum, who has spearheaded a complete revival.

Despite their 2-0 defeat against Mainz, Fuggerstadter are heading into this game on the back of three wins out of four, which has taken them to 11th in the Bundesliga table with 25 points.

For the visitors, Chrislain Matsima and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw are set to miss out with knee and thigh injuries.

Predicted lineup: Dahmen (GK), Banks, Schlotterbeck, Zesiger, Fellhauer, Jakic, Massengo, Giannoulis, Komur, Claude-Maurice & Gregoritsch

Last five matches

  • 15/02/26: Augsburg 1-0 Heidenheim (Bundesliga)
  • 07/02/26: Mainz 05 2-0 Augsburg (Bundesliga)
  • 31/01/26: Augsburg 2-1 St. Pauli (Bundesliga)
  • 24/01/26: Bayern Munich 1-2 Augsburg (Bundesliga)
  • 18/01/26: Augsburg 2-2 Freiburg (Bundesliga)

Player to watch: Keven Schlotterbeck

Keven Schlotterbeck, the elder of Borussia Dortmund defender Nico,  is finally showing that he is an equally reliable defender.

The 28-year-old has been superb for Augsburg this season, making 17 Bundesliga appearances and starting 16.

The German centre-back has made 1.6 tackles and 5.5 clearances in the Bundesliga this season, and has kept three clean sheets.
