Willem II vs NAC Breda prediction: The comfortable middle

Key stats:

  • Willem II and NAC Breda both have 15 points, though the hosts have scored one more and conceded nine fewer.
  • Willem II have actually been better on the road this season, with eight of their points coming away from home.
  • Conversely, NAC Breda have struggled on their travels, with one win and five losses away.

Correct score prediction: Willem II 2-1 NAC Breda

This game will be close. As the league table suggests, there is little difference between the promoted pair's performances. Though as the stats suggest, both sides would maybe fancy themselves more in the reverse fixture.

However, we think Willem II will edge this one, their far stronger goal difference shows they are just about the better side.

Last five H2Hs: On a knife-edge

These two will be delighted to be playing each other in the comfier climates of mid-table than near the relegation zone, having spent their recent seasons in the Eerste Divisie.

The recent fixtures between the pair do not point to a clear winner, with two wins each and one draw in their last five.

Willem II preview: Going steady

After a two-year stint in the second tier, Willem II will be quietly satisfied with how their return to the top flight has gone.

De Tricolores are just inside the top half, and have kept a tight defence, with only a handful of teams having conceded fewer.

The only concern as they welcome Breda is their injury list, with five players like to miss this encounter.

Predicted lineup: Didillon (GK), Tirpan, Birhounek, St. Jago, Sigurgeirsson, Lachkar, Bosch, Kehrer, Sandra, Meerveld, Vaesen

NAC Breda preview: A few leaks

It is quite remarkable that after just 12 games, and on the same points tally, Breda are ten goals worse off than their hosts.

The away side have held their own back in the top flight, despite finishing eighth in the second tier last season, with a win over Ajax a particular highlight.

However, they will be keen to tighten up at the back to avoid getting drawn into the relegation battle.

Predicted lineup: Bielica (GK), Lucassen, Jensen, Kongolo, Kemper, Balard, Leemans, Jensen, Pauler, Omarsson, Sauer

Leo Sauer is still finding his feet in Breda -Photo by imago

Player to watch: Leo Sauer

One of the most exciting signings NAC made this summer was the addition of Slovakian winger Leo Sauer.

The teenager joined on loan from Feyenoord, where despite not starting a single game, the attacker scored two and assisted three, with a contribution coming every 77 minutes.

Sauer has just one goal on loan so far, but with talent such as his, it won't be long until he explodes.
