VfL Osnabruck earned promotion to the 2. Bundesliga last season after two campaigns in the third tier, though 2026-27 has been mixed so far.
The hosts come into Wednesday's clash having lost two and won one of their three fixtures this term, and they find themselves 14th in the table.
Osnabruck have only twice played Bayern in their history, although boss Timo Schultz will not be pleased to know that his side were beaten in both encounters.
If the home team are to keep a clean sheet, they will need defenders Robin Fabinski, Jannik Muller and Niklas Wiemann to be at their best.
Bayern's win in the DFB-Pokal final in May against Stuttgart was the first time in six seasons that they won the competition, an unusually long wait for the club given they had won it 12 times between 1997-98 and 2019-20.
Vincent Kompany has already overseen two wins this term, with the first of those triumphs a 2-1 success against Borussia Dortmund on August 22 in the German Supercup final, and the second a 5-1 win against Stuttgart in matchweek one of the Bundesliga.
Those victories will be particularly pleasing to the head coach as Dortmund and Stuttgart may have ambitions of challenging the Bavarians' dominance, so to defeat them could help give Bayern a psychological edge.
Bayern are likely to make a number of changes to the lineup that won 5-1 against Stuttgart, with youngsters such as Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof candidates to start on Wednesday.
