🔥 Our Hot tip

Under 2.5 total goals

Three of Venezuela's and five of Canada's last six outings have produced under 2.5 goals

Venezuela's reward for their 100% record in Group B is a tie against the Group A runners-up Canada in the last 16.

Salomon Rondon and co caused a surprise as they dominated their group ahead of Ecuador, Mexico and Jamaica, while Canada also caused a shock by qualifying for the knockout stage ahead of Chile and Peru.

Venezuela vs Canada prediction: La Vinotinto to progress

Key Stats

  • The last meeting between these two countries, back in 2010, produced under 2.5 goals.
  • Canada have failed to score in four of their last five fixtures.
  • Salomon Rondon has 42 goals in 107 caps for Venezuela, two of which have been scored at the 2024 Copa America.

Correct score prediction: Venezuela 1-0 Canada

While Canada haven't scored in four of their last five matches, the North Americas have only conceded more than one goal in one of their last four fixtures and that was against Argentina.

Last five H2Hs: Nothing to separate the nations

Venezuela and Canada have only met twice before in 2007 and 2010 and both of those games ended in stalemates.

Venezuela preview: The surprise package in the USA

Venezuela made it three wins from three in Group B when they took on Jamaica on matchday three.

Having already defeated Ecuador and Mexico, Venezuela were always expected to come out on top against Jamaica.

Despite the first half ending goalless, Venezuela scored three times in the second 45 to secure a comfortable victory in the end.

Predicted lineup: Romo (GK), González, Ángel, Osorio, Aramburu, Bello, Herrera, Martínez, Segovia, Rondón & Machís

Canada preview: Did well to qualify from their group

Canada were never expected to reach the knockout stage after being drawn against Argentina, Chile and Peru in Group A but the North Americans finished as runners-up behind Messi and co.

Despite losing their opener against Argentina, Canada then claimed a 1-0 win against Peru and played out a goalless draw with Chile to qualify for the last 16.

However, their failure to score in two of their three group games suggests that they could struggle to go any further in this competition.

Predicted lineup: Crépeau (GK), Cornelius, Laryea, Davies, Johnston, Bombito, Osorio, Eustaquio, Larin, David & Shaffelburg

The Pachuca striker is the all-time top scorer for his nation with 42 goals, two of which have come at the 2024 Copa America against Jamaica and Mexico, and he is our player to watch in the Venezuela vs Canada game.

Will Venezuela's veteran striker be the hero against Canada?

The veteran forward will be hoping to start against Canada and will be very confident about his chances of scoring against the North Americans and his nation's chances of progressing through to the Quarter-Finals.
