Vancouver Whitecaps sit top the MLS Western Conference table thanks to their +5 goal difference. They have played two games fewer than Los Angeles FC, who are level on 33 points.
The Caps have failed to impress since returning to action, winning only once in four competitive outings. In the MLS, they first lost 4-3 to FC Cincinnati, before a goalless draw with Minnesota United.
Back-to-back winless outings have rung alarm bells in the dugout – a loss here will see them lose their temporary crown.
Jesper Sorensen misses the services of Kenji Cabrera, Belal Hambouni, Ralph Priso and Emmanuel Sabbi.
LAFC, in contrast, have only absentee in Brazilian midfielder Igor Jesus, who has been on the sidelines for almost a year.
Marc Dos Santos’ side have impressed more than most with a three-match winning streak since the season’s resumption.
They first beat LA Galaxy in the El Trafico derby 3-0, before defeating Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City 3-1 and 4-0 respectively.
Conceding only once in the process, LAFC have arguably the best defence in the league at the moment. They have shipped 18 goals in 18 league games.

Whispers predicts: Vancouver Whitecaps 1-2 LAFC
The two teams come into this fixture in contrasting form, but level on 33 points. The stakes are high, with LAFC carrying phenomenal 11/4 (3.75) odds as favourites to win. Their superior form is not reflected in the odds, making this an unique opportunity for maximum dividends.
Applying the same logic, LAFC or Draw at 21/20 (2.05) is worth a shot as well.
At 8/15 (1.55), BTTS – Yes is a worthwhile bet. The two teams are expected to go at each other at full throttle.
At 8/1 (9.00), Draw/LAFC (HT/FT) provides the biggest opportunity – a steal deal – with the away side in excellent form, although their away form is shaky.
> LAFC to win at 11/4 (3.75) | Likelihood: Probable
> BTTS – Yes at 8/15 (1.55) | Likelihood: Likely
> LAFC or draw at 21/20 (2.05) | Likelihood: Probable
> Draw/LAFC at 8/1 (9.00) | Likelihood: Possible
