Under 2.5 total goals

Valerenga and Molde have scored just 10 goals combined in their last four games combined

Both Valerenga and Molde have endured poor starts to the Eliteserian season so far, as they sit in 12th and 11th place respectively in the table at the time of writing. Their clash on Sunday afternoon already feels like it could be a relegation six-pointer already, given that they are both currently only five points clear of the dreaded drop zone, having played a game more than a number of teams directly below them.

Valerenga vs Molde prediction: All square in love and war?

Key stats

  • Valerenga have only picked up a mere one point from their last three home games.
  • Molde have lost five of their last six matches in all competitions.
  • Valerenga and Molde are averaging just 1.5 and one goal per game across their last four matches.

Correct score prediction: Valerenga 1-1 Molde

Given that both teams have been struggling for form of late, they could play out a draw which would edge both further away from the relegation zone. Both sides are also struggling to score goals, so this could end up being a fairly low-scoring affair.

Pre-game odds and win probability:  Valerenga just favoured for victory

  • HOME: 13/10 (2.30) – 43.5%
  • DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
  • AWAY: 6/4 (2.50) – 40.0%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Valerenga are slight favourites ahead of Molde to claim all three points on home soil. A draw is given a decent chance too by bookmakers at just under 30%.

Most recent H2Hs: Molde on unbeaten run

Molde are actually on a five-game unbeaten run against Valerenga, and have kept three clean sheets in their last four meetings. However, given their poor form, we do not fancy the visitors to keep the hosts out this time.

Player to watch: Elias Sorensen

Elias Sorensen has been involved in two goals in his last two games for Valerenga, securing a goal and assist. The winger boasts four goal contributions in total in the Norwegian top flight so far.

Sorensen actually started the season at Portsmouth, where he managed to find the net once in 12 matches in the English Championship. Falling out of favour, he made the move to Norway, and has so far been a key player for Valerenga.
