Utrecht preview: Excellent first-half display

Utrecht scored three times and conceded once in the first half of their last league game at home to Groningen to win the match 3-1.

Souffian El Karouani opened the scoring in the 8th minute and teammate Yoann Cathline made it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Groningen pulled a goal back just after the half-hour mark but Sebastian Haller's second league goal since returning to Utrecht won the game for the hosts in the 42nd minute.

Zidane Iqbal, Niklas Vesterlund and Can Bozdogan are all doubts for the hosts this weekend due to injury.

Ajax preview: Left it late against Willem II

Ajax slipped behind away at Willem II right before the break in a game everyone expected the Dutch giants to win with relative ease.

Wout Weghorst and Oliver Edvardsen were introduced at different stages of the second half and both paid their manager back with late goals to win the game for Ajax 2-1.

Ajax have now scored 21 goals through substitutes this Eredivisie campaign, the highest-ever tally for any side in the competition's history.

Predicted lineup: Matheus (GK), Sutalo, Kaplan, Gaaei, Hato, Henderson, Klaassen, Taylor, Traore, Brobbey & Godts

Player to watch: Kenneth Taylor

Kenneth Taylor is possibly Ajax's most influential player this season and has continued to develop well since breaking into the first team on a regular basis in the 2022/23 campaign.

Taylor has chipped in with nine goals and six assists from midfield, making him the club's top scorer in the Eredivisie so far this season, providing a goal and an assist against Breda recently.

Taylor has 15 goal involvements in this season's Eredivisie

We're excited to see how Taylor performs this weekend against high-flying Utrecht and wouldn't be shocked to see the midfielder add to his goals and/or his assist tally.
