USA return to action for the first time since their home World Cup campaign with a friendly against Peru at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday.
This weekend's fixture marks the first meeting between the sides since October 2018, when they drew 1-1 in Connecticut.

While off-field controversy involving Folarin Balogun and the manner of their last-16 exit to Belgium brought their World Cup campaign to a disappointing end, the United States gave a strong account of themselves on home soil.
Having won just one game in 2026 leading into the World Cup, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were not in great form, so there was understandable apprehension among supporters over their chances of a decent showing on the global stage.

Tasked with turning the tide in Peruvian football, new manager Mano Menezes is still settling in after taking over earlier this year following his departure from Brazilian side Gremio.
A victory over the USA would be an ideal way for Menezes to kickstart his reign, but his side will need to tighten up defensively, having conceded eight goals across their last four outings heading into a meeting with opponents capable of punishing any lapses at the back.
Peru are unbeaten in their last six friendlies against CONCACAF opposition since a 1-0 loss to Mexico in September 2022; a statistic that offers some encouragement for a side that has endured a challenging two years.
