Universidad de Chile vs Botafogo prediction: Botafogo to win?
Key Stats
- Universidad de Chile have failed to win any of their last three matches, suffering defeats in two of those games.
- Under 2.5 goals have been produced in three of Universidad's last four outings.
- Botafogo's opening game of the new Serie A season also produced under 2.5 goals.
Correct score prediction: Universidad de Chile 0-1 Botafogo
We're expecting this game to be tight and tense throughout but have backed the visitors from Brazil to claim a narrow 1-0 victory. Botafogo won Serie A last season while Universidad only finished second in the Chilean league which isn't as competitive as Brazil's top-flight and that's why we're favouring Botafogo on Thursday.

Universidad de Chile preview: Off to a poor start
Universidad de Chile have made a slow start to the new Primera Division campaign and currently sit ninth in the table after five matches.
Universidad finished second last season so will be disappointed to have only managed to secure seven points from their opening five fixtures.
The Chilean giants made the trip to Everton in their last league game, going down by two goals to nil in the end.

The Serie A champions kicked off the defence of their title away at Palmeiras on Sunday.
This game won't live long in the memory of either set of fans as both teams failed to score a single goal during the 90 minutes.
Botafogo will be looking to take advantage of Universidad's poor record against Brazilian clubs which has produced just 12 wins, 10 draws and 32 defeats.

Player to watch: Charles Aranguiz
Chile international midfielder Charles Aranguiz may well be a name that is familiar to you from his time playing in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.

Aranguiz, 35, was a regular fixture in the Leverkusen squad between 2015-2023, playing a key role deep in the heart of midfield, breaking up opposition attacks as well as being an excellent passer of the ball.
Brings a well of experience to the Universidad midfield
We're backing Aranguiz to bring his best game with him on Thursday against Botafogo in what should be a tough test for our hosts from Chile.
