Twente's season threatened to unravel early on after trailing 1-0 to Qarabag in their Conference League playoff tie, but an emphatic second-leg comeback secured a 4-2 aggregate win and has since sparked an upturn in form.

John van den Brom's side are unbeaten in their last five matches, winning four, including a 2-0 victory over newcomers ADO Den Haag last time out, courtesy of second-half goals from Wout Weghorst and Robin Propper.

As a result, the Tukkers are just three points behind PSV at the top of the table, so a win this weekend would see them draw level with the league leaders.

Twente have lost eight consecutive matches in all competitions against this weekend's opponents since their last victory in November 2023, underlining the scale of the challenge ahead.

Nonetheless, Sunday's hosts can take confidence from their home form, as they are the only team in the division yet to drop points at home this season, collecting nine points from a possible nine.

PSV Eindhoven once again put their title credentials on display last time out, defeating Sparta Rotterdam 3-1 at the Philips Stadion to bounce back after a 1-1 draw in their Champions League opener.

Peter Bosz's side have been prolific in front of goal, averaging over three and a half goals per game this season, a record that will be tested against a Twente team boasting the Eredivisie's best defensive record of just five goals conceded.

With AZ Alkmaar playing Telstar at the same time, De Rood-witten travel to Enschede knowing anything less than a win could see them surrender top spot, leaving little margin for error.

PSV have scored 10 of their 22 goals this season in the first half, showing their ability to fly out of the blocks, although they have occasionally started slowly, conceding first in four of their last five games.

Making only his second start for PSV last time out, Sven Mijnans netted a superb hat-trick to announce himself to his new employers, making him one to watch here.

Whispers predicts: Twente 1-3 PSV Eindhoven

A trip to Twente is arguably PSV Eindhoven's toughest league test so far, but as they did away to Ajax, we are backing the visitors to come out on top at 6/5 (2.20).

Goals have been a constant feature of this weekend's fixture over the years, and over 2.5 goals at 7/25 (1.28) looks a no-brainer.

PSV (10) and Twente (five) have scored a combined 15 first-half goals this season, making over 1.5 first-half goals at 4/5 (1.80) another appealing pick.
