Under 1.5 Goals for Tottenham

Spurs have scored exactly one goal in seven of their last 10 league games at home

Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League status will be decided against Everton on Sunday, when they welcome them to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in arguably their most important match in decades.

Spurs' situation is simple – they are 17th with 38 points and anything more than a defeat will guarantee their safety – whereas 12th-placed Everton's tally of 49 points is realistically too few to put them in a position from which to qualify for Europe.

It would have seemed unthinkable when Spurs reached the 2019 Champions League final that the club would be entering matchweek 38 of a Premier League season still at risk of being relegated.

The good news for boss Roberto De Zerbi is that his side could retain their top-flight status even if they lost, as 18th-placed West Ham not only trail them by two points, but they also would have to overcome a goal difference deficit of 12 to survive.

Tottenham fans are sure to provide all the support they can, especially after the team lost 2-0 against Chelsea on Tuesday, though there are doubts about whether injured captain Cristian Romero will be in attendance amid rumours he will skip Sunday's game.

One player that De Zerbi will be able to select is striker Dominic Solanke, who has fully recovered from a hamstring injury, and his holdup play will be needed if Spurs are to avoid being penned in.

It would be wrong to suggest that Everton have had a disappointing season considering they comfortably avoided a relegation battle, but their season has trended in the wrong direction in recent weeks, with the team drawing three and losing three of their last six games.

Boss David Moyes has already expressed his desire to keep West Ham in the division given his attachment to the Londoners from previous managerial stints, though he also insisted his priority will be to achieve a top-half finish with the Toffees.

Everton have not been mathematically ruled out of claiming the eighth-placed Conference League spot, but they are not only three points from Chelsea, they also have to overcome goal difference deficit of nine to finish ahead of the Blues.

While Moyes may want to field as strong a team as possible, he knows that he will be without centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, as well as influential attacker Jack Grealish, due to respective hamstring and foot injuries.

Whispers predicts: Tottenham 1-1 Everton

With so much at stake on Sunday, it would be surprising if Tottenham played with freedom, so a draw at 11/4 feels like a reasonable offer.

Spurs have struggled to score more than one goal at home in recent months, and it may therefore be worthwhile backing Tottenham to Score Under 1.5 Goals at 10/11.

The Toffees have also struggled in the final third of late, and it may be sensible to also back Everton to Score Under 1.5 Goals at 7/20.

De Zerbi will be keen for his side to race into a lead at the interval, but his team have rarely led at the halfway stage, so there could be value in predicting a Draw at Half Time, a prediction priced at 13/10.

📈 Tottenham vs. Everton — Whispers' Tips

> Tottenham to Score Under 1.5 Goals at 10/11 | Likelihood: Possible

> Everton to Score Under 1.5 Goals at 7/20 | Likelihood: Probable

> Draw at Half Time at 13/10 | Likelihood: Possible
