Tottenham Hotspur are going through a truly horrific season. Sunday's crushing defeat in the north London derby against Arsenal has plunged the club into a fierce battle for survival in the Premier League. However, the club's hierarchy are not sitting idle and, amid the sporting crisis, are already clearly starting to address the summer transfer market. They have even slapped an astronomical price tag on one of their biggest talents.

Astronomical price rise for Lucas Bergvall

Amid the poor results, Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt has come up with an interesting piece of behind-the-scenes information. According to the report, Tottenham have set the asking price for 20-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall at a staggering £57m.

If a transfer for this amount were to materialise, it would represent a gigantic financial profit for the London club. In 2024, Spurs literally snatched him from under Barcelona's nose for just £8.5m. The Swedish youngster has since played 71 matches, scored two goals and attracted the attention of English heavyweights. Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa are all currently closely monitoring his situation.

Tottenham transfer news: Giants interested in defensive pillars

But Bergvall may not be the only one to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. According to Team Talk, Liverpool are also circling Dutch centre-back Micky van de Ven. The Reds are currently facing the threat that defender Ibrahima Konate will not sign a new contract after the season and will leave on a free transfer.

The reigning English champions have therefore renewed their long-standing interest in the speedy Dutchman from Spurs, whom they had tracked before his move to London.

There is also movement around another defensive gem. Croatian super talent Luka Vuskovic, who is currently gaining experience on loan at German side Hamburg, has reportedly come under the microscope of the biggest football giants. Scouts from Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring his development.
