Just a few weeks after their historic maiden league title victory, Thun endured the heaviest defeat suffered by a Swiss club in Europe. Only FC Basel had previously lost by the same scoreline, going down 7-0 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 in 2012.
Despite going unbeaten in their opening two games, the reigning Swiss champions have made a poor start to 2026/27. They were knocked out of Champions League qualification by Dinamo Zagreb, before facing back to-back defeats in the Swiss Super League.
They made it through the previous play-off round by beating Vikingur Reykjavik, followed by an impressive 6-0 win over Saxon-Sports in the Swiss Cup.
Matthias Kait and Genis Montolio are two confirmed absentees for Thun, while Lech are missing the services of Kamil Jacobczyk, Filip Jagiello, Leo Bengtsson and Ali Gholizadeh.
Kolejorz have been utterly dominant since the start of the season, with a penalty shootout loss to Danish side Aarhus in Champions League qualification their only defeat.
They opened the campaign by winning the Polish Super Cup, beating Gornik Zabrze 3-1. Lech also remain undefeated in three Ekstraklasa games.
What’s more impressive is their recent defensive form, conceding none in their last four games and scoring 16 in the process.
