Hosts Switzerland will be hoping to avenge their 2-1 defeat to Norway in their opening game of the UEFA Women's European Championships when they take on Iceland in Group A on Sunday. Iceland also lost their group stage opener, going down 1-0 to Finland in what was the first match of the tournament.

Switzerland Women vs Iceland Women prediction: A point apiece?
Key stats
- Both teams have only won once in each of their last seven games in all competitions.
- Both teams have failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous five matches.
- Switzerland have won four of the previous five H2Hs, despite being a lower world ranking.
Correct score prediction: Switzerland Women 2-2 Iceland Women
Given that both teams are out of form and lost their opening game, there may be some desperation when they face each other on the field. Matches involving the hosts in particular have seen plenty of goals in recent times, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Switzerland strong favourites with bookmakers
- HOME: 1/1 (2.00) – 50.0%
- DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
- AWAY: 11/4 (3.75) – 26.7%
*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
Switzerland have been installed as favourites with bookmakers to claim all three points, which is not entirely surprising considering that they are the hosts. A draw is rated slightly above an Iceland victory, as shown by the implied probabilities.

Player to watch: Lia Walti
Lia Walti is the captain and heartbeat of the Switzerland team. She earned an incredible 125th senior cap for the Swiss in their 2-1 defeat to Norway last time out.

At club level, she has also made over 100 senior appearances for Arsenal, and won the UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) before the tournament started. Walti is very experienced, and her teammates will look at her to try and lead them to victory in front of the home faithful.
