Switzerland vs Slovenia predictions: Goals expected to flow
Key stats
- At least three goals were scored in five of Switzerland’s last six matches.
- Fewer than five cards were awarded in six of Slovenia's last seven games.
- Switzerland have won four matches in a row.
Correct score prediction: Switzerland 3-2 Slovenia
To be fair, Slovenia are currently on a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions, with three wins and three draws. However, all three wins were by a one-goal margin, and they managed to score more than once in only two of their last nine games.
On the other hand, Switzerland have been unstoppable, scoring at least four goals in each of their last three games, and at least three goals in four consecutive matches.
With that in mind, we are confident that Switzerland will emerge victorious, as they did in five of the last six meetings between these sides.

Switzerland preview: Eyeing their fifth consecutive victory
With the scoreline reading 4-0 at half time on Friday against Kosovo, coach Murat Yakin made five changes during the second half to give a breather to the men who performed well and a chance to other members of the squad to showcase themselves.
Top of the standings and looking to make it two wins out of two, the Swiss side finished the contest with the Kosovans with no injury problems, which means boss Yakin could stick with the same starting XI from Friday, with Gregor Kobel in goal and Breel Embolo as the lone striker.
Predicted lineup: Kobel (GK), Widmer, Elvedi, Akanji, Rodriguez, Xhaka, Freuler, Vargas, Rieder, Ndoye & Embolo
Last five matches
- Switzerland 4-0 Kosovo
- USA 0-4 Switzerland
- Mexico 2-4 Switzerland
- Switzerland 3-1 Luxembourg
- Northern Ireland 1-1 Switzerland
Slovenia preview: A clean bill of health
Slovenia will make this trip looking to stop Switzerland from earning back-to-back wins in Group B. The visitors came from behind twice to snatch a 2-2 draw against Sweden, with substitute Zan Vipotnik scoring a last-minute equaliser to snatch a point from the jaws of defeat.
The encounter with the Swedes finished without fresh health concerns for the Slovenians, giving coach Matjaz Kek the opportunity to calmly select his best men for this occasion. Vipotnik, who netted the equaliser in Ljubljana, could be given the nod here in the only probable change from last time's lineup.
Predicted lineup: Oblak (GK), Karnicnik, Drkusic, Bijol, Janza, Stojanovic, Cerin, Elsnik, Lovric, Vipotnik & Sesko.
Last five matches
- Slovenia 2-2 Sweden
- Slovenia 2-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Luxembourg 0-1 Slovenia
- Slovenia 1-0 Slovakia
- Slovakia 0-0 Slovenia
Player to watch: Breel Embolo

Breel Embolo put in a solid performance last week, scoring a brace in Switzerland's 4-0 victory over Kosovo. The Stade Rennais forward has scored in each of his last four appearances for Switzerland and will look to extend that streak on Monday night.
