Ahead of their FIFA World Cup opener against Qatar, Switzerland have lined up preparatory friendlies against Jordan and Australia.
The hosts will enter this clash with their 26-man squad for the World Cup already released. Captain and record appearance holder Granit Xhaka (144 caps) will look to add to his tally here, even as he's set to appear for Switzerland for the fourth time in the World Cup.
Breel Embolo is also expected to start against the Jordanians. The Stade Rennais forward scored before the half-time break in each of Switzerland's last five home games.
On the other hand, Jordan have enjoyed a transformative period in their footballing history. In the last couple of years, they have reached the finals of the AFC Asian Cup and the FIFA Arab Cup, while also securing a World Cup berth for the first time.
Head coach Jamal Sellami is yet to unveil his final 26-man roster for Jordan’s historic debut at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but a few days ago (Wednesday), the gaffer cut off Ahmad Al-Jaidi and Ahmad Assaf from the 30-man preliminary squad.
The Nashama will trim the current 28-man roster after the friendlies against Switzerland and Colombia to a final one before getting into the thick of the action in Group J, where they face Austria, Algeria, and Argentina.
Led by captain Musa Al-Taamari, who has the joint-most appearances for the national team in the current squad (90), the visitors will dream of upsetting their more established opponents in the group.
It is also worth mentioning that Switzerland and Jordan will go head-to-head for the first time this weekend.

Also, Jordan have found the net in eight consecutive matches across competitions, so we fancy Switzerland & BTTS – Yes at 2/1 (3.00).
