Sunderland to win and BTTS

Sunderland have conceded in four of Sunderland's last five wins.

Sunderland will take on Burnley on Monday, 2 February in a match between two of this season's newly promoted sides.

Both of their seasons have gone very differently up to this point, with Sunderland still in the hunt for European football and Burnley on the verge of an immediate return to the Championship.

As part of this week's round of Premier League betting tips, check out our Sunderland vs Burnley prediction below.

Sunderland vs Burnley prediction: More misery in store for the Clarets

Key Stats

  • Burnley have won just one of their 11 Premier League away matches this season.
  • Sunderland are yet to lose a match at home in the Premier League this season.
  • Both teams have scored in each of Burnley's last four matches in all competitions.

Correct score prediction: Sunderland 2-1 Burnley

Burnley have marginally improved over the last month, but it seems highly unlikely that they will pick up anything at the Stadium of Light given how strong Sunderland have been here all season.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Sunderland are longer than you'd expect

  • HOME: 8/11 (1.73) – 57.9%
  • DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
  • AWAY: 19/5 (4.80) – 20.8%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

The Sunderland vs Burnley odds are a little surprising in that there remains excellent value on a home victory. Ladbrokes have given Sunderland a 57.9% chance of winning the match, while Burnley have been given a 20.8% chance of walking away with all three points.

Most recent H2Hs: Honours even

These two teams have regularly gone head-to-head in the Championship this decade, and although Sunderland are currently the better team, that hasn't always been the case. Across the last five meetings, Burnley have won twice, Sunderland have won once, and there have been two draws.

Sunderland preview: Struggling without Xhaka

Granit Xhaka will once again be unavailable for Sunderland here, and the Swiss midfielder is expected to be out for another three weeks. Also in the Sunderland treatment room are Bertrand Traore and Jocelyn Ta Bi, while Arthur Masuaku has left the club on loan.

Predicted lineup: Roefs (GK), Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete, Cirkin, Sakiki, Diarra, Hume, Le Fee, Talbi, Brobbey

Last five results

  • West Ham 3-1 Sunderland
  • Sunderland 2-1 Crystal Palace
  • Everton 1-2 Sunderland
  • Brentford 3-0 Sunderland
  • Tottenham 1-1 Sunderland

Burnley preview: Too early for JWP

James Ward-Prowse is now a Burnley player until the end of the season but the set piece specialist won't be available for this one due to a lack of match fitness. In better news, Zian Flemming and Joeo Worrall are back in the first team squad but Zeki Amdouni, Josh Cullen, Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts remain out.

Predicted lineup: Dubravka (GK), Humphreys, Esteve, Tuanzebe, Walker, Ugochukwu, Florentino, Pires, Edwards, Anthony, Foster

Last five results

  • Burnley 2-2 Tottenham
  • Liverpool 1-1 Burnley
  • Burnley 5-1 Millwall
  • Burnley 2-2 Man Utd
  • Brighton 2-0 Burnley

Player to watch: Enzo Le Fee

With Granix Xhaka out of the team, all of Sunderland's creativity from the middle of the park will have to come from Enzo Le Fee. While the playmaker is the club's chief creator, the lack of support elsewhere could be a heavy weight to carry, so it will be fascinating to see how he gets on against Burnley's deep block.
