Deniz Undav to score anytime

Undav has 18 league goals in just 21 starts

High-flying Stuttgart welcome struggling Werder Bremen to the MHPArena on Sunday afternoon in a Bundesliga clash that could have implications at both ends of the table.

The hosts head into their 31st league match in high spirits after booking their place in the DFB Pokal final with a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Freiburg, sealed in the 119th minute.

Despite losing two of their last three Bundesliga games, Stuttgart sit fourth with four matches remaining and remain on course for a second top-four finish in three seasons.

Werder Bremen, meanwhile, have struggled to build on last season’s mid-table finish and are still looking to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Daniel Thioune’s side have won three of their last six league matches, a run that has moved them five points clear of the bottom three, and a second consecutive victory could extend that gap to eight points above 16th-placed St Pauli.

Although there may be some fatigue following their recent cup tie, Sebastian Hoeness’s side will still be confident of claiming all three points and could even leapfrog RB Leipzig with a victory.

With Champions League qualification not yet secured, Stuttgart will be keen to ensure their cup success does not distract from their league objectives, and another win could open up a five-point cushion over fifth-placed Hoffenheim.

Their DFB Pokal final, set to take place next month, will see them face Bayern Munich, a side they were beaten 4-2 by in the league last week.

As for Werder Bremen, they arrive knowing that their poor away form could yet drag them back into danger, with only three teams having picked up fewer points on the road this season.

However, they can take some encouragement from their recent head-to-head record, having won the reverse fixture 2-1, although Stuttgart have claimed victory in four of the last six meetings between the sides.

Whispers predicts: Stuttgart 2-1 Werder Bremen

With these two sides at opposite ends of the table, it is hard to look past the hosts who are a team hoping for a top four finish. Stuttgart to win is priced at 1/2.

Deniz Undav has 18 goals in 25 Bundesliga outings this season and scored a late winner in their cup semi-final win at the weekend, he is priced at 5/6 to score again on Sunday.

As previously mentioned, eight of Stuttgart's last 10 league matches have produced three or more goals and we expect something similar here again. A 2-1 win for the home side comes in at 15/2.
