Stuttgart's start to the season has been mixed to say the least, as while they have won three games, they have lost twice and only won once in the Bundesliga.

The club's two losses have come against Bayern Munich in matchweek one and Hoffenheim in matchweek three, with the latter a 2-1 loss on September 12.

Boss Sebastian Hoeness can point to the fact that both of those opponents finished in the top five last term, and the team should not necessarily be judged by two early results against strong opposition.

Stuttgart can also highlight the fact the squad is severely depleted, with up to eight players at risk of missing out on Saturday's match at MHPArena.

As for Dortmund, they emerged as 3-0 winners against newly-promoted Paderborn on September 12, but it should be noted that they were made to wait until the 80th minute to score their second of the game despite having netted their first in the fifth minute.

Black and Yellow's defensive resilience has been apparent this campaign, and if they are to finally beat Bayern Munich to the title, they must continue to be as ruthless in the rest of the season.

Victory on Saturday is vital for Niko Kovac's side, particularly as his team have at times been guilty of dropping unnecessary points when they could have capitalised on their title rivals' weaknesses.

However, BVB have only won once in their last eight clashes with Stuttgart, losing five times, though that win was their most recent meeting in April.

There were some concerns about attacker Konstantinos Karetsas due to the teenager suffering circulatory problems in the past week, but he has been passed fit and is set to be included in the squad.

Whispers predicts: Stuttgart 1-3 Borussia Dortmund

While the bookmakers believe a Stuttgart win is more likely at 27/20 (2.35), Dortmund's impressive start to the season makes it difficult to ignore a Dortmund win at 9/5 (2.8).

Both teams have scored in Stuttgart's last four games, so it may be sensible to predict Both Teams to Score at 4/11 (1.36).

Considering Borussia Dortmund have kept three clean sheets in their past five matches, predicting Under 1.5 Goals for Stuttgart at 21/20 (2.05) may be the way to go.

Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy has two assists in his last three games, and there could be merit in backing Serhou Guirassy to Assist at 9/2 (5.5).

📈 Stuttgart vs. Borussia Dortmund — Whispers' Tips

> Both Teams to Score at 4/11 (1.36) | Likelihood: High

> Under 1.5 Goals for Stuttgart at 21/20 (2.05) | Likelihood: Medium
