Sporting Lisbon will take on Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday, 5 November in a match that will draw plenty of attention after Ruben Amorim was confirmed as the new Man Utd boss.
The clash on Tuesday will be Amorim's final home match in charge of Sporting before moving to Manchester next weekend so he will be desperate to get the win for more reasons than one.
Manchester City, meanwhile, head to Portugal with their tail between their legs following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend. Can they bounce back here?
As part of our latest round of Champions League betting tips, here is our Sporting Lisbon vs Man City prediction.

Sporting Lisbon vs Man City prediction: Amorim to sign off in style
Key stats
- Sporting Lisbon have won their last six matches in all competitions.
- Man City have lost their last two away matches in all competitions.
- Viktor Gyokeres has scored eight goals in his last four appearances.
Correct score prediction: Sporting Lisbon 2-1 Man City
Manchester City have lost their last two away matches by a scoreline of 2-1 and a third could be on the cards here. Sporting have been sensational so far this season and are yet to taste defeat and while a full-strength Man City would likely have enough to topple them, the Blues are still missing several key players which opens the door for Sporting to record a huge win.
Pre-game odds and win probability: The visitors start as favourites
- HOME: 3/1 (4.00) – 25%
- DRAW: 14/5 (3.80) – 26.3%
- AWAY: 4/5 (1.80) – 55.6%

The Sporting Lisbon vs Man City odds provide us with fantastic value on the Sporting Lisbon win which makes it an even better bet. Ladbrokes have given Sporting just a 25% chance of winning on Tuesday, seemingly discounting their form this season and Man City's injury woes. The Blues have been given a 55.6% chance of coming out on top.

Most recent H2Hs: A happy hunting ground for Man City
Sporting Lisbon and Man City last faced off in 2022 when they met in the Champions League Round of 16. The Blues flexed their muscles in the first leg, dismantling Sporting 5-0 in their own backyard before playing out a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium. A similar result here would be very well received by the blue half of Manchester.

Sporting Lisbon preview: A bigger night for Amorim or the club?
The discourse around Ruben Amorim has made this showdown appear like a bigger match for the man himself rather than the club and the players. It's an opportunity for the 39-year-old to say goodbye to Sporting's fans in style while endearing himself to Man Utd fans before he's even walked through the doors at Old Trafford.

Man City preview: Battered Blues need a win
Man City losing matches under Pep Guardiola is so rare that back-to-back defeats this week have made it feel like a crisis at the Etihad. Another loss here would really be cause for concern so Guardiola will be desperate to nip this blip in the bud as soon as possible.
Predicted lineup: Ederson (GK), Lewis, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol – Kovacic, Gundogan, Nunes – Bernarod, Haaland, Doku

Player to watch: Viktor Gyokeres

It's not often that Man City line up without the most deadly striker on the pitch but there is certainly an argument that this is the case on Tuesday night. Gyokeres has incredibly already scored 20 goals across all competitions for Sporting compared to Haaland who has ‘only' scored 14. Will the Swede show his class against elite opposition?
