PSV Eindhoven to win

PSV have come out on top in seven straight matches against Sparta.

Taking to the field for the first time as 2025-26 Eredivisie champions, PSV Eindhoven head to Het Kasteel on Saturday to lock horns with Sparta Rotterdam.

A 17-point lead over Feyenoord in second with five games to go means that the visitors are unassailable atop the league table and can afford to take their foot off the gas. However, their hosts do not have such luxury as they remain embroiled in the battle for Europe.

Given how dominant PSV Eindhoven have been over the course of the season, their status as 2025-26 league winners has been a case of when, not if, for the last couple of months.

Consecutive defeats against NEC Nijmegen and Telstar before the break only delayed the inevitable for Peter Bosz's men, who finally clinched their third straight league title with a 4-3 victory over FC Utrecht, as Feyenoord failed to beat Volendam.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Sparta Rotterdam's Patrick van Aanholt is one of only seven Eredivisie players to have scored a free-kick this term.

De Rood-Witten have equalled Feyenoord's record for the fewest matches (29) needed to secure an Eredivisie title, and are on course to at least match last season's points tally of 79, needing just eight more from the final 15 available.

Last season's title race went down to the wire, leaving PSV with no room for complacency. However, securing the championship with five games to spare this time presents a different kind of challenge.

PSV travel to Rotterdam having lost three of their last four away matches, but their record against this weekend's opponents is impressive: they are unbeaten in 16 encounters and have won the last seven, including a 6-1 rout in August's reverse fixture.

A run of six wins from seven league games between December and January had Sparta Rotterdam dreaming of a top-four finish, but their form since has been underwhelming.

🔍 Whispers Insight

PSV Eindhoven's average ball possession of 61.3% is the highest of any team in the division.

Maurice Steijn's men have managed just one win in their last eight Eredivisie outings, with half ending in draws, most recently a goalless stalemate against relegation candidates NAC Breda.

Still, De Rood-Witte Gladiatoren cling to the final European spot, though they could slip into the bottom half this weekend, with just one point separating them from Utrecht and Groningen in ninth and tenth, respectively.

Having recently broken into the side, 17-year-old Lushendry Martes will be unavailable to face the champions as he serves a one-match suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Whispers predicts: Sparta Rotterdam 1-3 PSV Eindhoven

A victory on Saturday would see PSV complete a league double over Sparta for a third straight season, and despite the away side having little to play for, it is difficult to see past another win for them in this fixture at 1.83.

Nonetheless, the home side are expected to find the back of the net at least once to land Both Teams to Score in an 11th straight match involving PSV at 1.40.

PSV (7.4) and Sparta (4.7) are averaging a combined 12.1 corners per game this season, suggesting there could be plenty of set-piece action once again. Over 10.5 corners at 1.83 is an enticing option.

📈 Whispers' Tips

> 1x2 - PSV Eindhoven to win at 1.83 | Likelihood: Probable

> BTTS - Yes at 1.40 | Likelihood: Probable

> Corners Over/Under - Over 10.5 at 1.83 | Likelihood: Probable
