Drawn into Group H alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Cape Verde, Spain are sharpening their tools going into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. On Friday, De La Fuente's side enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Serbia, with the world's highest-ranked team showcasing just why they are the best at the moment.

Ahead of this clash, La Roja have lost just once in their previous 27 games across all competitions (W22, D4).

🔍 Whispers Insight

Spain scored at least three goals in each of their last four friendly matches.

Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal, who now has 16 goal contributions in his last 10 appearances for Spain (10 goals, six assists), bagged a brace in the first half before debutant Victor Munoz put the icing on the cake 18 minutes from time to hand De La Fuente's men a comfortable win last weekend.

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera and Osasuna forward Victor Munoz were able to feature for Spain at senior level for the first time in their careers during this international window. The newly-capped players will be eager to get minutes against Egypt, with Real Sociedad’s Ander Barrenetxea and Barcelona’s Joan Garcia also eyeing their debuts here.

La Roja are missing a few key players for this international break due to injury, including Nico Williams, Pablo Barrios, Fabian Ruiz, Samu Aghehowa, and Mikel Merino. However, these players are all expected to be back from injury before the World Cup, as only Aghehowa and Merino are pencilled in for a late recovery in May.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Spain have lost only one friendly game since June 2016.

Egypt, meanwhile, began their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations by dismantling Saudi Arabia 4-0 in a friendly affair at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah on Friday.

Islam Issa opened the scoring for the seven-time African champions in the fourth minute, before captain Mahmoud Trezeguet doubled the Pharaohs' lead 12 minutes later.

Al Ahly star Zizo, who provided the assist for Egypt's first goal, then scored the third just before the half-time break, before Manchester City hitman Omar Marmoush rounded off the scoring in the second half. The result undoubtedly puts Hossam Hassan’s troops in fine shape ahead of this encounter.

Egypt have been drawn into Group G of the 2026 World Cup showpiece alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.

Goalkeepers Mohamed Alaa and El Mahdy Soliman, as well as forward Naser Mansi, are the newest faces in the Pharaohs’ squad. After all three players failed to feature against Saudi Arabia last time out, there is a chance for at least one of them to make their senior international debut against Spain.

Legendary Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem are two key injury absentees for Egypt during this window.

At 1.18, Spain are considered favourites by the bookies, and this is not surprising, considering their recent form.

Moreover, De La Fuente's side have opened the scoring in nine consecutive matches, leading at the half-time break in eight of them. HT Spain to win is priced at 1.52.
