Like their more senior compatriots, Spain’s youngsters are used to winning silverware and having won two of the last four iterations of the European U19 Championship, La Roja will kick Thursday’s final off as 7/5 favourites to prevail again.
Netherlands U19 have reached the final of the Euros for the first time after a stirring run to the climactic contest which included standout wins over Germany and England. However, the Oranje have been priced as slight underdogs at 7/4 here. View our free football tips page for more Club World Cup predictions.
Most recent H2Hs: First meeting since 2019
Spain U19 and Netherlands U19 haven’t met since 2019 and although La Roja won 1-0 on that occasion, we can take little from that encounter in terms of evidence.
26/03/2019 – Netherlands U19 0-1 Spain U19
11/11/2016 – Spain U19 2-1 Netherlands U19
Spain U19 preview: Tiredness could be a factor
In keeping with established La Roja traditions, Spain U19 line up in a 4-3-3 formation with talented technicians occupying each of the six positions in midfield and attack. Spain's semi-final against Germany went to extra time and was decided by a late goal-scoring flurry (5-4), so the rigours of fatigue might be something to consider ahead of the final.
Predicted lineup: Latorre (GK), Olmedo, Martin, Cuenca, Munoz, Marques, Merino, Monserrate, Garcia, Cordero, Janneh
13/06/2025 – Spain U19 1-0 Denmark U19
16/06/2025 – Romania U19 1-3 Spain U19
19/06/2025 – Montenegro U19 0-5 Spain U19
23/06/2025 – Spain U19 6-5 Germany U19 AET
Netherlands U19 preview: 4-2-3-1 formation likely
Netherlands U19 coasted to a 3-1 semi-final win over hosts Romania U19 in the semi-finals and the Oranje were three goals to the good inside an hour of that contest. The Dutch have been using a 4-2-3-1 formation this summer and they are unlikely to spring any tactical surprises in the final.
Predicted lineup: Heerkens (GK), Read, Ugwu, Janse, Dijkstra, Verkuijl, Land, Oufkir, Smit, Sliti, Konadu
14/06/2025 – Germany U19 0-3 Spain U19
17/06/2025 – Norway U19 0-2 Netherlands U19
20/06/2025 – Netherlands U19 4-2 England U19
23/06/2025 – Netherlands U19 3-1 Romania U19″]
Player to watch – Andrés Cuenca
Talented centre-half Andrés Cuenca has been a defensive mainstay for Spain U19 at this summer’s European U19 Championship and though he scored an own goal in the semi-finals against Germany, his overall performances at the tournament have been top level.
Can Cuenca provide the platform?
Cuence is a highly rated prospect at his club Barcelona and he saw first-team minutes for the Culers in October last year as a late sub in Barca’s clash with Young Boys in the Champions League. The 18-year-old defender will be keen to make an impact on the big stage again this week.
