Under 1.5 Goals for Egnatia

Egnatia have scored one or fewer goals (excluding extra-time) in seven of their eight away games in Europe

After suffering Champions League elimination, Shamrock Rovers must now navigate a two-legged tie in the Europa League qualifiers against visitors Egnatia, who they play in the first leg of the third round at Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday

Shamrock were entered into the penultimate stage of the Europa League qualifiers after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Ararat Armenia last week, while their Albanian opponents suffered a penalty-shootout defeat in the Champions League qualifiers on July 28 against NK Celje.

Shamrock will feel disappointed that they failed to stay in the qualifiers for the Champions League, as while they can be pleased by their performance when they won 2-1 against Ararat Armenia in the second leg on July 28, they would have taken the tie to extra-time had their opponents not scored in the 74th minute.

A place in the Europa League would still be an excellent achievement, and the fact the hosts have won their last three European games at Tallaght Stadium will give supporters immense confidence.

Boss Stephen Bradley did oversee a goalless stalemate with Drogheda United on Friday, but they still lead the way in the League of Ireland, with their tally of 51 points eight more than the total second-placed St Patrick's Athletic have.

Centre-back Roberto Lopes was sent off against Drogheda, but considering that dismissal came in a domestic game, his ban will not apply to any European fixture.

Egnatia's exit from the Champions League qualifiers was even more heartbreaking than Shamrock's considering they were eliminated by NK Celje on penalties after drawing 5-5 on aggregate.

The visitors do not boast the strongest European history given they have never reached the league or group phase of a European competition, though they have drawn three and won one of their past four away continental outings.

Manager Nevil Dede's side are yet to begin their campaign in the Albanian top flight – they finished third in 2025-26 – with all four of their matches this term coming in Europe.

Daniel Adjessa and Alessandro Albanese were both trusted to start up front against Celje, and they are likely to be stationed together in a front two once again.

Whispers predicts: Shamrock Rovers 2-1 Egnatia

Shamrock Rovers will be backed by their home crowd, but they are also backed by the bookmakers, who have priced a Rovers win at 4/6 (1.67).

The hosts will believe they can get the better of the visitors considering their opponents have often struggled to score more than once when playing on the road, and that could make a bet of Under 1.5 Goals for Egnatia at 1/4 (1.25) sensible.

Shamrock Rovers have contrastingly often scored at least two goals in home European games, so backing Over 1.5 Goals for Shamrock Rovers at 8/11 (1.73) makes some sense.

Given Rovers have lost in the second half in four of their past six European games, predicting Egnatia to Win the Second Half at 7/2 (4.5) would be a bold bet.

📈 Shamrock Rovers vs Egnatia — Whispers' Tips

> Under 1.5 Goals for Egnatia at 1/4 (1.25) | Likelihood: Probable

> Over 1.5 Goals for Shamrock Rovers at 8/11 (1.73) | Likelihood: Possible
