We're bringing you our Champions League predictions for the only game that really matters in Group H between Porto and Shakhtar. Both teams have nine points on the board with one game left to play and just one qualifying place left to play for. This is a winner-takes-all game, though, a draw would see Porto qualify on goal difference.

Porto vs Shakhtar team news

Porto

Porto gave a good account of themselves away at Barcelona last time but narrowly lost the game 2-1. The Portuguese side actually took the lead in this game on the half-hour mark through Pepe Aquino but Barcelona were only behind for two minutes and went on to score the winning goal shortly before the hour mark.

Samuel Portugal, Wendell, Ivan Marcano and Gabriel Veron look set to miss the final game of Group H through injury.

Predicted Lineup: Costa (GK), Pepe, Zé Pedro, Sánchez, Mendes, Eustáquio, Jaime, Varela, Taremi, Aquino & Evanilson

Shakhtar

Shakhtar used their home advantage well in their last Champions League game, emerging 1-0 winners over the group's whipping boys Antwerp. Mykola Matviyenko scored the winning goal after just 12 minutes, following good work from Oleksandr Zubkov, who claimed the assist.

The visitors have no fresh injury concerns or suspended players ahead of their must-win game in Porto.

Predicted Lineup: Riznyk (GK), Matvienko, Bondar, Gocholeishvili, Azarovi, Zubkov, Kryskiv, Bondarenko, Sudakov, Sikan & Newerton

Player to Watch: Mehdi Tarami

Porto's Iranian forward Mehdi Tarami hasn't had the best start to the season and hopes his form picks up in 2024.

However, Tarami has plenty of quality, so much so that many of Europe's biggest clubs were monitoring him last season when he scored over twenty goals.

We're backing Tarami to put in another impressive performance on Wednesday night, and that might mean he has a hand in Porto's attacking play from a creative point of view rather than scoring multiple goals.
