Red Bull Salzburg vs Club Brugge prediction: A high-scoring affair is expected

Key stats

  • Eight of Salzburg's last 10 UCL matches produced over 2.5 goals.
  • Club Brugge conceded three goals in three of their last five away UCL games.
  • Both teams scored in Club Brugge's last five competitive games
  • There have been at least three goals recorded in four of Salzburg's last five matches.

Correct score prediction: Red Bull Salzburg 2-2 Club Brugge

FC Salzburg enters this clash off the back of a 5-2 aggregate win over Brann in the previous round Champions League qualifying round, although they could only manage a 2-2 draw in their first Austrian Bundesliga outing. Going into this clash, the hosts will back themselves to get past the Belgians, having played in the group stage of the competition in the last six seasons.

Their opponents, Club Brugge, are vastly experienced in this competition, and they reached the last 16 in last season's competition. Starting their quest for Champions League football this term, the Belgian giants recorded a winning start in the domestic campaign, coming from behind to beat Genk 2-1. If they get past Salzburg over the two legs, it will be their eighth appearance in the competitions in 10 seasons.

With that disappointing loss, the visitors will be eager to get back to winning ways on Wednesday, but they will have to fight without the duo of Maxim De Cuyper and Chemsdine Talbi, both of whom have departed the club.
