Real Salt Lake preview: Diego Luna available

Salt Lake are coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory against St Louis, which saw both teams netting own goals in the second half. The win extended the Clarets’ unbeaten run to three games, keeping them six points off the playoff spots in the Western Conference.

Tyler Wolff, Zac MacMath, Emeka Eneli and Javain Brown are ruled out this weekend because of injuries.

Following his exploits for the USMNT in the Gold Cup, Diego Luna is expected to start for Salt Lake in midfield alongside Diogo Goncalves and Zavier Gozo, while William Agada will likely be the lone striker in Pablo Mastroeni’s preferred 4-2-3-1 setup.

Predicted lineup: Cabral (GK), Caliskan, Glad, Junqua, Katranis, Ruiz, Palacio, Gozo, Goncalves, Luna & Agada.

Houston Dynamo preview: Eyeing three straight wins for first time since 2024

The visitors closed out June in winning fashion and have extended that into this month by beating San Diego in a thrilling contest 4-3 at Snapdragon Stadium last Sunday, which marked only the team's third MLS victory on the road this season.

Up against Real Salt Lake, Ben Olsen’s side will be seeking revenge after losing 2-1 at home when these teams last met in March.

Coach Olsen will not be able to call on the services of goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell, who has been sidelined since March because of an injury, as well as youngster Nelson Quinones this weekend.

The former DC United manager will rely on Ezekiel Ponce, who has netted seven goals for Houston Dynamo this campaign, and Ondrej Lingr, who has three goals, as attacking threats in this contest.

Predicted lineup: Bond (GK), Escobar, Bartlow, Ortiz, Andrade, Artur, McGlynn, Ennali, Bassi, Lingr & Ponce.

Real Salt Lake's top scorer, Diego Luna, should be available for selection after an impressive CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign in which he had five goal contributions in six appearances. The 21-year-old scored the winner in the reverse fixture and will fancy his chances against Houston Dynamo once again.
