PSV Eindhoven preview: Bosz’s side turns their sights to domestic glory
It was another disappointing result on the continental scene for PSV when they fell to a 2-1 defeat against German powerhouse Bayern Munich in their Champions League clash on Wednesday.
Bosz’s men lost each of their final three games in the group stage phase, a result which saw them bow out of the competition, as they finished with just eight points from their eight matches, one point and four places behind Benfica in the final playoff qualifying places.
PSV now return to action in the Eredivisie, where they saw their run of 13 straight victories come to an end last Saturday, when they fought back from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against NAC Breda on home turf.
Having clinched the title last season, the Boren are in pole position to defend their crown this term, as they have picked up 17 wins and two draws from their 20 matches so far to sit 14 points clear at the top of the table.
Predicted lineup: Kovar (GK), Dest, Schouten, Obispo, Junior, Fernandez, Veerman, Man, Wanner, Driouech & Saibari
Last five games
- PSV 1-2 Bayern Munich
- PSV 2-2 NAC Breda
- Newcastle United 3-0 PSV
- Fortuna Sittard 1-2 PSV
- Den Bosch 1-4 PSV
Feyenoord preview: Aiming to end away woes
Like this weekend’s hosts, Feyenoord were dumped out of Europe on Thursday when they fell to a 2-1 defeat against La Liga side Real Betis in the Europa League.
This was a sixth defeat in eight Europa League games for Robin van Persie’s men, who finished with just six points from a possible 24 and 29th in the group standings, nine points off the playoff qualifying places.
Feyenoord now return to action in the Eredivisie, where they secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Heracles last Saturday courtesy of goals from Leo Sauer, Jordan Bos, Anis Hadj Moussa and Casper Tengstedt.
This was a much-needed result for De club aan de Maas, who had failed to win their previous four league matches, losing twice and claiming two draws while conceding 10 goals and scoring six across the four matches.
Feyenoord have now won 12 of their 20 Eredivisie matches this season while losing five and claiming three draws to collect 39 points and sit second in the league standings, two points above third-placed Ajax.
Predicted lineup: Wellenreuther (GK), Deijl, Beelen, Jeng, Bos, Hwang, Targhalline, Valente, Moussa, Tengstedt & Sauer
Last five games
- Real Betis 2-1 Feyenoord
- Feyenoord 4-2 Heracles
- Feyenoord 3-0 Sturm Graz
- Feyenoord 3-4 Sparta Rotterdam
- Heerenveen 2-2 Feyenoord
Player to watch — Ismael Saibari

Saibari netted a hat-trick to fire PSV to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Feyenoord in the last meeting between the two teams and the Moroccan forward will be looking to deliver the goods once again.
The 25-year-old found the back of the net in the 2-1 loss against Bayern in their midweek Champions League outing to take his goal involvement tally to 16 in his last 18 outings for the Borens.
Saibari, who is one goal shy of crossing the double-digit mark in the league, should retain his role in the PSV attack, teaming up with 28-year-old forward Guus Til.
