PSG transfer news: Deal ‘agreed in principle’ for Ajax attacking prodigy

Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on their first major signing of the summer. The European champions have reportedly agreed a deal in principle on personal terms with Ajax winger Mika Godts.

Godts is coming off a sensational breakout campaign, delivering 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 games across all competitions for Ajax.

Godts have received interest from the Premier League as well, but PSG have moved decisively to steal a march on any rival suitors.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via Footmercato), PSG have tabled an opening offer of €45m for Godts. Ajax, however, value their prodigious left winger higher, close to €60m.

The 21-year-old has reportedly held direct talks with sporting advisor Luis Campos and manager Luis Enrique, but Ajax are yet to accept the proposal.

His Ajax contract extends until 2029, so all that remains is for the Parisians to find common ground with the Amsterdam outfit on the transfer fee.

Godts is understandably at the very top of PSG's wish list. Enrique views him as the ideal understudy for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

More importantly, he will arrive as a direct replacement for Bradley Barcola, who is nearing a big money switch to Liverpool.

As one of the wealthiest clubs in world football, injecting the squad with youthful, dynamic firepower has become an absolute priority for the PSG project.

Godts fits the brief Enrique is looking for – high-volume dribbling output, ability to stretch deep blocks and clever movement in central zones.

The Belgian is unlikely to displace Kvaratskhelia, but he will offer a world-class alternative and soften the blow of Barcola's impending departure.

Despite his breakthrough season where he was voted Eredivisie Talent of the Year, he was left out of Belgium's squad by Rudi Garcia for the World Cup.
