Premier League Summer Series 2023: Predictions, Odds & Betting Tips

Premier League Summer Series Match Predictions

Brighton vs Newcastle: Over 2.5 goals

We kick off our Premier League Summer Series predictions with this encounter between Brighton and Newcastle with our focus being on goals; we're are betting on over 2.5 goals. Brighton have seen three of their last five games go over the 2.5 marker with a game average of 3.6 goals. Newcastle meanwhile have seen three of their last four matches break that 2.5 cut off with a game average of 4.0 goals.

Aston Villa vs Brentford: Aston Villa to win

Brentford have endured a pretty miserable pre-season to this point with a draw against non-league Boreham Wood and back to back defeats in the Summer Series. We're predicting that it becomes three straight losses for them here. Aston Villa impressed last time out as they swept Fulham aside 2-0. On top of that, they're yet to lose in pre-season meaning their undefeated run stands at six games. They took four points off Brentford last season too.

Chelsea vs Fulham: Chelsea to win

After a disappointing campaign last year there are some green shoots this pre-season as we expect them to continue here as we bet on Chelsea to beat Fulham. The Blues have won two of their last three games and are unbeaten in four. Fulham meanwhile lost last time out and have now only won one of their past four matches. On top of that, Fulham have an awful record against Chelsea with just one win in 10 meetings.

Outright Predictions and Odds for the Premier League Summer Series

No bookmakers are currently offering outright markets for the upcoming Premier League Summer Series but we expect that to change in the near future. Chelsea and Newcastle will be the obvious choice for favourites to win the competitions but Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, and Aston Villa all enjoyed excellent 2022/23 Premier League campaigns and will believe that they can win this competition.

Our prediction for the winner of the 2023 Premier League Summer Series would have to be Newcastle, followed by Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Fulham in that order. Hopefully, we will see outright markets for the Top Goalscorer and Player of the Tournament amongst others for what is a much anticipated pre-season competition.

What is Premier League Summer Series?

Chelsea and Brighton kick-off the inaugural Premier League Summer Series on the 23rd of July at 00:00 GMT at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia with the competition set to finish on the 30th of July after Chelsea vs Fulham (19:45 GMT) at FedExField.

That match will be closely followed by Fulham vs Brentford and then Newcastle vs Aston Villa with all six teams playing three games each during the 'round-robin' style tournament, though, usually each team would play every other team once in a typical round-robin competition.

The team that finishes with the highest number of points will win the Premier League Summer Series, the first Premier League-affiliated competition to be played outside the UK since the Asia Trophy.

The Premier League Summer Series is set to become an annual pre-season tournament that will be hosted in a variety of countries outside of England, the first of which is the USA. Five different stadiums will be used during the July tournament which spans Atalanta, New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Landover.
