This is because the English top flight is also the richest compared to other major European leagues, and so the biggest clubs especially are able to sign the best players in world football.

In this article, we have built the Premier League's most valuable XI, showcasing the league's best players by position, their values and how they performed last season ahead of another exciting campaign in 2026/27.

Here is the Premier League's most valuable XI by position, with all values taken from Transfermarkt:

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the Premier League's most valuable goalkeeper, with a value of just over £38m. He joined Manchester City last season after winning the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, and helped them to a second-place finish by keeping 15 clean sheets.

Jurrien Timber is the Premier League's most valuable right-back, with a value of just over £59m. He is a key part of an Arsenal defence that helped them win the league last season having conceded the fewest goals, but unfortunately Timber's campaign was cut short by injury.

William Saliba is the Premier League's most valuable centre-back, valued at just under £85m. Another key part of the Arsenal defence, his pace and reading of the game is elite, and he complements centre-back partner Gabriel Magalhaes perfectly.

No surprises to see Gabriel as the second-most valuable centre-back at just under £64m, as his partnership with Saliba was pivotal on winning Arsenal the league. His no-nonsense approach to defending helps him block and intercept shots, while he is also a major threat from set-pieces with his elite aerial ability.

Nico O'Reilly is the Premier League's most valuable left-back, valued at just over £59m. Breaking into Man City's team last season, his brace helped them win the Carabao Cup over rivals Arsenal, demonstrating his ability to break forward from defence and providing an extra threat in forward areas.

Declan Rice is the most valuable defensive midfielder in the Premier League at just under £102m, although he has shown that he is not limited to just sitting in front of the defence. The Arsenal man scored four goals and provided seven assists in the league last season, showcasing his ability to drive with the ball and influence the final third too.

Bukayo Saka is the most valuable right-midfielder in the Premier League, valued at just over £93m. His season was halted by injuries, but he still showed glimpses of why he remains Arsenal's starboy with seven goals and seven assists in their title-winning campaign.

Jeremy Doku is the most valuable left-midfielder in the Premier League, valued at just under £64m. He went up another level at Man City last season and was especially key in keeping the title race alive towards the end, although he and his team just fell short.

Florian Wirtz, tied with Cole Palmer (Chelsea) and Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool), is the most valuable attacking midfielder in the Premier League, valued at just under £85m. His debut season with Liverpool was difficult as the team failed to defend their crown, but there is no doubting his quality.

Erling Haaland is the Premier League's most valuable player, let alone striker at just over £169m. He could not help Man City win the title last season, but still finished with the Golden Boot.

Alexander Isak is the second-most valuable striker in the Premier League, valued at just over £72m. He actually joined Liverpool last summer for a British-record £125m fee, but injuries have hampered his time at Anfield.
