Premier League expiring contracts: Who is free to leave in 2027?

Virgil van Dijk headlines the list of Premier League stars whose contracts run out in the summer of 2027.

The Liverpool captain will turn 36 that summer, and reports suggest little appetite from either side for a further renewal once this deal ends.

Bruno Fernandes is another marquee name in the same position at Manchester United.

The Portuguese captain's contract technically expires in 2027, though United hold a club option to extend by a further year, so his situation is less clear cut than a straight free transfer.

Manchester United have the most exposure of any club on this list, with Fernandes joined by Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw among the players whose deals wind down in the same window.

Alisson Becker's situation at Liverpool is one to watch given his importance to Andoni Iraola's side, though the signing of Lucca Brughmans suggests that the Reds are firmly planning for life without the Brazilian.

Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea have any players whose contracts will run out in 2027, while the only semi-notable example from Manchester City is Mateo Kovacic, who has been firmly bumped down the pecking order by Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernandez.

However, Tottenham Hotspur's Richarlison can depart for nothing in 2027, although the Brazilian could also seek a way out in the coming weeks, with the Saudi Pro League transfer window still open.
