Portugal continued their fine form with a 2-1 victory over Chile last week. They have now won back-to-back fixtures and are unbeaten in four consecutive matches.

Interestingly, the UEFA Nations League champions have been almost unstoppable at home, having won eight and drawn one of the nine games they've played on their own soil in the last two years.

Head coach Roberto Martinez will have Paris Saint-Germain stars Vitinha, Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Goncalo Ramos available for this game following their absence from the friendly against Chile.

Rafael Leao is suspended for this clash following his straight red last week. However, the AC Milan forward will be available for Portugal's World Cup opener against DR Congo.

It’s also worth mentioning that fourth-choice goalkeeper Ricardo Velho is expected to leave the squad after this friendly. The Genclerbirligi shot-stopper is not part of Portugal's 26-man squad for the tournament and was only called up for the friendlies in case either Diogo Costa, Rui Silva, or Jose Sa gets injured.

On the other hand, Nigeria followed their Unity Cup triumph with a 2-2 draw against Poland last week. The Super Eagles have been a tough team to beat, as their only defeat in 12 games came from a penalty shootout.

Coach Eric Chelle will be without Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman for this contest, as both players were exempted from the May and June friendlies due to personal reasons, while first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali remains out of the squad due to his current status as a free agent.

Defender Igoh Ogbu is sidelined with an injury, while new Super Eagles invitee Rafiu Durosinmi, who could have been part of the squad for this game, left camp for personal reasons.

Interestingly, Nigeria have won only one of their last nine encounters with European sides (D3, L5). They suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat in their only other encounter with Portugal in 2022.

Whispers Predicts: Portugal 2-1 Nigeria

At 27/100 (1.27), Portugal are clearly favoured by the bookmakers ahead of this skirmish.

Given their impressive run of results at home, coupled with Nigeria's recent struggles against European sides, we are confident that the hosts will emerge victorious after 90 minutes.

However, the visitors have scored at least twice in five consecutive matches, so over 0.5 Nigeria goals at 4/5 (1.80) should be worth a punt.

Also, the Super Eagles opened the scoring in four of their last five fixtures, and this can be backed at 29/10 (3.90).
