Bristol Rovers – Port Vale preview: latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Bristol Rovers vs Port Vale lineups.

Bristol Rovers

The Gas lost 0-2 away vs Peterborough on Saturday. Barton’s men made a slow start to each period and this was the main reason for this defeat. Bristol’s problems in defence remain unresolved and they have been able to keep only one clean sheet in nine rounds.

The inability to achieve shutdowns is the main reason why the home form up to now has been nothing more than average (W1 D2 L1).

The health problems continue to be a burden. Right now as many as 8 players are sidelined or questionable. The latest to join this list was the explosive winger Thomas. He got hurt in the last match and was forced off limping. If he can’t play Brown could get another chance to impress.

The back line remains badly crippled too. Starters in defence Friend, Crama and Wilson are all set to miss. There are problems in midfield too with 2 regulars from that area also ruled out – Rossiter and Ward.

Predicted Lineup:

Cox (GK), Hoole, Grant, Taylor, McCormick, Bogarde, Evans, Finlay, Brown, Collins & Sinclair

Port Vale

Port Vale suffered consecutive home defeats when losing 0-1 vs Bolton on Saturday. The Valiants had their chances to at least save a draw but the inability to keep their shots on target proved costly.

Port Vale can gain some confidence heading into this match from the fact that they won the last meeting between the clubs back in April 2-0.

Winger Loft is ineligible to face his parent club so he won’t be considered. Playmaker Conlon is also absent, while all of Jones, Clark, Iacovitti and Chislett are nursing knocks and bruises so they will be assessed closer to kick-off.

Predicted Lineup:

Ripley (GK), Cass, Smith, Balmer, Plant, Ojo, Arblaster, Grant, Garrity, Devine & Wilson

Starting Lineups

The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.
