Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille prediction: Le Classique to lean PSG's way
Key stats
- PSG are on a six-match unbeaten streak across all competitions (W5, D1).
- The hosts have scored two or more goals in 10 of their last 12 Super Cup appearances.
- Only one of Marseille’s last five games saw both teams score.
- The visitors have lost four of their last 10 competitive visits away from home.
Correct score prediction: PSG 2-2 Marseille (PSG to win on penalties)
On the back of beating nearest rivals Paris FC 2-1 at Parc des Princes, PSG return to the Middle East, where they recently won the Intercontinental Cup, but this time to Kuwait, where bitter adversaries Marseille await. Impressively, Trophee des Champions will be the French title-holders' fifth competition in the space of six fixtures.
Marseille haven’t had the best start to 2026, as Nantes comfortably beat them 2-0 at Stade Velodrome in their last outing. Roberto De Zerbi’s men play this final as a result of their runners-up finish last season in Ligue 1 – a fate similar to their current third position, seven points adrift of PSG.
PSG are clearly the favourites in this derby matchup, although Marseille are expected to take the match to the sword. An extra-time affair is ruled out due to the competition's regulations, and hence a penalty shootout could be the deciding factor in Kuwait City.

PSG have won 11 of their 12 previous appearances in the final of the Super Cup, and are undoubtedly the favourites to win their second trophy of the campaign. Bookmakers have priced their odds of victory at 4/7 (1.57), a 63.9% probability of success.
Marseille are eyeing consecutive victories over PSG for the first time since 2011, having beaten them narrowly at the Velodrome early in the Ligue 1 season. Les Olympiens are assigned odds of 4/1 (5.00) – indicating a win probability rate of 20% for the southerners.

The 2025 Ballon d’Or winner is in hot form, having been instrumental in both of PSG’s recent wins. The Frenchman also has the honour of striking the stoppage-time winner in last season’s 1-0 Trophee des Champions victory over Monaco.
