Paris Saint-Germain will face English opposition in the UEFA Super Cup for the second successive season when they play Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena.
The Parisians beat Tottenham 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time in 2025, and after back-to-back Champions League wins, they will now face 2026 Europa League winners Villa.
The Villans beat Freiburg 3-0 in the final to win their first major trophy in 30 years, and so will be competing in the Champions League alongside PSG this season.
Both teams met in Europe's elite competition in the 2024/25 campaign, where PSG narrowly edged the quarter-final over two legs on their way to winning their first-ever Champions League title.

After years of trying to win the Champions League under their lucrative ownership, PSG ensured back-to-back victories by beating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after they were held to a 1-1 draw after extra-time.
It is the 12th piece of silverware the Parisians have won under Luis Enrique, and he is set to extend his stay at the club into the new season after question marks about his long-term future circulated in the media.
In order to try to keep themselves at the top, PSG have been strongly linked with the likes of Mika Godts and Zion Suzuki among other star names, while Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne have joined and Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani and Lee Kang-in have all left for significant fees.
A slight worry for the Parisians is that in their first game back from winning the Champions League, they lost 3-0 away to Mallorca in a pre-season friendly.
PSG are unbeaten in 10 H2Hs against English opposition in Europe (W9, D1).
The back-to-back European champions went two goals down before the break, and although the line-up was absent of a number of star names that have not yet joined the squad after playing in the World Cup, the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Willian Pacho still featured.
Of course, pre-season results do not ultimately matter in the grand scheme of things, but Enrique will still want performances to improve ahead of the Super Cup.
Encouragingly, their final warm-up before Wednesday's showpiece was a step up from the Mallorca defeat, with PSG playing out a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in Gothenburg on Saturday.
Ibrahim Mbaye gave PSG an early lead, striking home from the centre of the box inside the first two minutes, before Bryan Mbeumo levelled for United just past the half-hour mark following good work from Amad Diallo.
Chances came at both ends in the second half, with Kvaratskhelia's stoppage-time curler the closest either side came to snatching a winner.
Matvey Safonov started in goal for PSG and was tested on several occasions, including a fine stop to deny Mbeumo's header, while 18-year-old Alessandro Longoni was given a late run-out between the posts.
However, Les Parisiens’ squad has continued to strengthen as their pre-season fixtures have progressed, with Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Marquinhos all returning from extended World Cup breaks to feature against United.
All of these players have also been included in PSG's official squad list for the game, alongside the returning Achraf Hakimi, so could all play some part against Villa.
New signing Maghnes Akliouche missed out on the Gothenburg trip, but there are indications he could be in contention for Wednesday's Super Cup, offering Enrique another attacking option as his squad continues to take shape.
Another interesting storyline that is emerging ahead of the match is that Lucas Digne has joined PSG from Villa for a fee of around £6m, and could potentially line up against his former club.
Aston Villa won the Super Cup in 1982 against Barcelona.
However, given first-choice left-back Mendes has returned to the squad, it is likely that the Portugal international will start ahead of Digne, although the Frenchman could still get some minutes off of the bench.
PSG are still active in the transfer market as well, but any more new signings will now miss the Super Cup given that it is being played on Wednesday night, with not enough time to fully integrate them into the squad.
It should also be noted that as of Monday, all players that featured in the latter stages of the World Cup have now returned to the club, and so the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Fabian Ruiz, who reached at least the semi-finals of the tournament with their respective countries, are all in contention to get their first minutes of the season here.
Their opponents are much further ahead in their pre-season preparations, having played six friendlies already (W3, L3).
The latest of those was a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, where Villa went two goals down before new signing Joao Gomes pulled a goal back late on.
It was a mixed side of senior players and youth, as the Villans, like a number of other clubs, wait patiently for the rest of their international stars to return after playing in the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States this summer.
Those players are obliged to have a three-week break before returning to action, so it is unclear just how the team will shape up come the Super Cup.
Head coach Unai Emery has already confirmed that Emi Martinez, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins will all miss out as they have been given an extended break following their exploits at the World Cup, where Argentina reached the final and England played in the third-place play-off.
They are three key players for Villa, which will certainly weaken their hopes of winning the trophy, and the likes of Marco Bizot, Victor Lindelof and Tammy Abraham may have to step in and help raise their levels against what is an outstanding PSG side.
Nonetheless, while it would represent another piece of silverware to win for the club, Villa's priorities will be looking forward to the new season and trying to qualify for the Champions League once more, and perhaps even win a domestic trophy this time in the form of the FA Cup or Carabao Cup.
The club is on a high after winning the Europa League and finishing fourth in the Premier League, with ex-PSG manager Emery doing a great job at Villa Park, and he is now the second-longest serving manager in the English top flight after the man who succeeded him at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta.
Unfortunately for the Villans, their summer has also been complicated by the significant injury to Amadou Onana suffered on World Cup duty and the club-record sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117m, but exciting signings like Johan Manzambi and Gomes have been made to try to kick on again.
The latter has been ruled out of this game with a knee injury though, while Leon Bailey, who has strongly been linked with a move to newly-promoted Hull City, will also be forced to sit this match out with a muscular problem.

At the time of writing, PSG are favourites for victory, and given their recent European history, we are willing to back PSG to win at 4/5 (1.80) in normal time.
However, with Villa further on in pre-season and showcasing their ability to cause PSG problems in the 2024/25 Champions League, BTTS – Yes at 5/6 (1.83) could also be worth backing.
Over 3.5 goals at 9/4 (3.25) is our third and more ambitious pick, as we are expecting plenty of goals again like the nine scored over the two legs of those quarter-finals.
Overall, we are predicting a 3-1 PSG win, which is available at 13/1 (14.00).
