Palmeiras vs Chelsea prediction: European giants to edge this intercontinental clash
Key stats
- Chelsea have scored 10 goals in their four Club World Cup matches so far, one of just three active clubs to reach double figures.
- Palmeiras are unbeaten at the Club World Cup, but have won just one match in 90 minutes.
- Chelsea won the only previous meeting between these two clubs back in 2022.
Correct score prediction: Palmeiras 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea's expensively-assembled squad should blow any non-European side out of the water, and that is likely to ring true here, even though they were beaten by Flamengo in the group stages.
Palmeiras have been tough to beat, but all of their games so far have been closely-fought affairs, and Chelsea's star talent could swing this encounter in their favour.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Chelsea the slight favourites
- HOME: 11/4 (3.75) – 26.7%
- DRAW: 9/4 (3.25) – 30.8%
- AWAY: 12/11 (2.09) – 47.8%

It is clear to see who the bookies fancy to progress from this one, but Chelsea are given a less than one-in-two chance of winning in 90 minutes.
Both clubs went to extra time in the last 16, and that is a real possibility again, so it is no surprise that a draw is priced as short as 9/4, but Chelsea to advance is the fancied bet, at 1/2.

Most recent H2Hs: First rematch since high-profile meeting
There has only been one previous meeting between Palmeiras and Chelsea, and it came in this competition under its previous format in February 2022, when the Champions League winners got the better of the Copa Libertadores champions 2-1 after extra time in the final, with Kai Havertz scoring the late winner from the penalty spot.

Player to watch: Pedro Neto
Neto has been one of the best players at the Club World Cup, scoring in all three of his appearances so far, and he will be the key attacking outlet for the Blues in this one.
Success in this competition would mark a brilliant few weeks for the Portuguese winger, who won the Conference League with Chelsea in May, before claiming UEFA Nations League success with his national team at the start of June, registering an assist in that final.
