Nigeria vs Ghana predictions: A low-scoring affair
Key stats
- The first leg of this tie ended in a goalless draw
- Three previous encounters between the home-based Eagles and the Black Galaxies went below the 2.5-goal line.
- Nigeria did not qualify for the last two editions of this competition.
- Ghana eliminated Nigeria in the previous edition of the CHAN qualifiers.
Correct score prediction: Nigeria 1-0 Ghana
The only other time the CHAN Eagles hosted Ghana was in the previous edition of the CHAN qualifiers, and Nigeria won by two unanswered goals. Given that the Eagles held their own against Ghana away from home in the first leg, we are confident that they will emerge victorious at home.
Pre-game odds and win probability: No odds available
Ghana will set their sights on a return to the African Nations Championship after their quarterfinal exit in 2023. Interestingly, the Black Galaxies have qualified for only one of the last four editions of this tournament. They have been one of the most successful teams with two second-place finishes in 2009 and 2014.
On the other hand, Nigeria's last appearance at the African Nations Championship was in 2018, when they finished as runners-up. Like their opponents, the CHAN Eagles have never won this tournament, although they have been semifinalists on two occasions, finishing second and third.
At the time of writing, the odds for this Jollof Derby have not been released.
