New Zealand came close to securing their first-ever win at the World Cup but had to settle for a 2-2 draw in their opener against Iran last week.
Although Darren Bazeley's troops are still in the hunt for their first win in this competition, they are also unbeaten in their last four World Cup games. This is because the All Whites were famously the only undefeated team in the 2010 World Cup after drawing all their group games. Their last four fixtures in this tournament have all ended in stalemates.
Midfielder Matthew Garbett was ruled out of New Zealand's campaign due to a severe hamstring injury sustained during a training session ahead of their opener against Iran. He was replaced by Auckland FC star Logan Rogerson, who will be eyeing a 16th-cap for the national team on Monday.
The All Whites will once again be led by all-time appearance maker (91 caps) and all-time top scorer Chris Wood (45 goals). The Nottingham Forest forward registered two assists in the team's opener, with both goals scored by Motherwell's Elijah Just.
Similarly, Egypt's wait for a first-ever victory in this competition continued with a 1-1 draw against Belgium. Although the Pharaohs had the lead for over 45 minutes, Mohamed Hany’s own goal cancelled Emam Ashour’s first-half strike.
Given that all four teams in Group G have earned one point so far, a victory for either team will likely be enough to advance to the round of 32. This would be a first for the North African side, who lost all their group games in their previous campaign in 2018.
Like their opponents, the Pharaohs have a clean bill of health with no suspended players ahead of their second group game.
This will be the fourth clash between these sides and their first competitive encounter. Egypt have never lost to New Zealand (W2, D1) and have not conceded in the last two H2Hs.

Whispers Predicts: New Zealand 0-1 Egypt
At 4/6 (1.67), Egypt are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this skirmish.
Given that New Zealand suffered nine defeats in their last 12 outings across all competitions, we are confident that the Pharaohs will emerge victorious after 90 minutes.
It is also worth mentioning that three previous clashes between these sides have all gone south of the 2.5-goal marker, and this can be backed at 4/5 (1.80).
We also fancy a 1-0 victory for Egypt at 49/10 (5.90). The Pharaohs won the last two H2Hs by the same scoreline.
