Chile have scored 10 goals in their last four matches.

New Zealand will look to halt their eighth-game winless streak when they host Chile in the second match of their FIFA Series tournament at Eden Park on Monday.

Darren Bazeley’s men are down in 4th spot in the FIFA Series Group 2 table, after losing their opening game to Finland.

Group leaders Chile, meanwhile, are coming off a 4-2 victory over Cape Verde and will set their sights on a fifth consecutive victory.

Paired in Group G of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Belgium, Egypt, and Iran, New Zealand have been very underwhelming since securing a summer spot in North America.

The All Whites were on a seven-game winless run (D1, L6) at the start of their FIFA Series campaign but could not improve their fortunes, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Finland in their opening game. They are looking to use the biennial tournament to fine-tune preparations for the World Cup.

🔍 Whispers Insight

No team has scored more goals than Chile in the FIFA Series this year.

With these constant reality checks, the wake-up call sounds even much louder for the Oceanian side, who are expected to face immense pressure in Monday's contest with Chile.

Bazeley's side remain without captain and top scorer Chris Wood due to injury. Losing the Nottingham Forest striker for this FIFA tournament definitely means a limited goal threat in the final third for the team.

Additionally, Francis De Vries is ruled out of this game after sustaining a fresh injury in the Finland game. This should force coach Bazeley to make adjustments to the backline.

As for Chile, the South American heavyweights failed to qualify for this year's FIFA World Cup as they finished bottom (10th) of the CONMEBOL qualification standings. This marked their third consecutive absence from the four-year football festival after failing to make the event in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

Back to the drawing board for the umpteenth time, the two-time Copa America champions have shown real improvement since their qualification failure, having recorded a three-game winning run to put themselves firmly in shape for the 2026 FIFA Series competition.

The nine-time World Cup appearance makers came from behind to defeat Cape Verde 4-2 in their first Group 2 match of the FIFA Series at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, extending their winning streak to four games.

🔍 Whispers Insight

New Zealand are one of five teams yet to score in the FIFA Series.

Although the Chileans were on the ropes with a 2-1 advantage for Cape Verde at halftime, the sending off of defender Diney Borges a few minutes before the break was going to hurt the West Africans at the resumption.

Reduced to 10 men, the Blue Sharks had no answer to La Roja’s second-half attacking pressure, as goals from Maximiliano Gutierrez, Felipe Loyola, and Gonzalo Tapia handed the Chileans a 4-2 victory and a top spot in Group 2.

Whispers Predicts: New Zealand 1-3 Chile

At 1.83, Chile are considered favourites by the bookies, and considering their recent run of results, we can see why.

New Zealand have suffered seven defeats in their last eight games, so anything other than a victory for Chile would be a surprise.

It is also worth mentioning that Chile have scored at least two goals in four consecutive matches, three of which went above the 2.5-goal threshold.

On that note, Over 2.5 total goals can be backed at 2.10.
