Netherlands vs Iceland prediction, odds & betting tips – 10/06/2024

The Netherlands take on Iceland in their final warm-up game before the start of Euro 2024, and we're bringing you our predictions for Monday's clash.

Preparations for Group D have been mixed for Ronald Koeman's side who enjoyed 4-0 wins against both Scotland and Canada but in the middle of those games they narrowly lost 2-1 against Germany.

Visitors Iceland didn't qualify for Euro 2024 but should provide a decent test for Monday's hosts as they head into this game on the back of a 1-0 win against England at Wembley.

Netherlands preview: A natural blend of youth and experience

Ronaldo Koeman has selected a Dutch side that contains lots of different styles and abilities in the forward line which should lead to his side scoring plenty of goals in Germany.

Wout Weghorst,  Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo, Donyell Malen, Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn all score goals and offer different strengths to one another which means that Koeman can switch up his style of play according to each opponent at Euro 2024.

Predicted lineup: Verbruggen (GK), Blind, de Ligt, Frimpong, Geertruida, van de Ven, Wijnaldum, Schouten, Gravenberch, Depay & Brobbey

Iceland preview: Unexpected winners in midweek

Iceland pulled off a shock victory at Wembley against England on Friday night thanks to a solitary goal from Leuven forward Jón Dagur Þorsteinsson.

Admittedly, England did not put in a good performance in front of their own fans but that should not take away from the effort of Åge Hareide's side who have started to move back up the FIFA rankings in recent months. However, we still expect the Dutch to prove too strong for the Scandinavians on Monday night as they will be much more prepared for what Iceland have to throw at them.

Predicted lineup: Valdimarsson (GK), Ingason, Grétarsson, Finnsson, Guðmundsson, Traustason, Anderson, Bjarkason, Haraldsson, Þorsteinsson & Guðjohnsen

Player to watch – Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay scored his 45th international goal in midweek as the Netherlands thrashed Canada 4-0 in their penultimate friendly ahead of Euro 2024.

The Atletico Madrid forward has played 91 times for the Netherlands and while his appearances at club level have dropped off over the last three seasons, mostly due to injury, Depay always turns up for his country and performs.

Will the Atletico Madrid forward shine at Euro 2024?

The 30-year-old could well be one of the stars of Euro 2024 if the Netherlands are able to produce their best in Germany and we're backing Depay to set them on their way to the tournament in style with the kind of performance that will guide Monday's hosts to a win against Iceland.
