Netherlands will gear up for this summer's World Cup with a home friendly before flying to USA, having qualified for the tournament in style.

After missing out in 2018 and reaching the quarter-finals in Qatar in 2022, the Oranje booked a second straight appearance on the global stage by topping group G in European qualifying, going unbeaten and winning six of their eight outings.

Across those games, Ronald Koeman's team scored 27 goals while only conceding four, before most recently playing two friendlies in March, beating Norway 2-1 and drawing 1-1 at home to Ecuador, extending a long unbeaten run on Dutch soil dating back to 2023.

Koeman has now assembled his squad ready to travel to USA for the beginning of the group stage and will test them in Wednesday's friendly, with veteran defender Stefan de Vrij a notable absentee while Matthijs De Ligt and Xavi Simons will miss the World Cup through injuries.

In their final domestic home game before the flight, with another friendly looming in USA before they meet Japan, Sweden and Tunisia in the group stage, beginning in less than two weeks, Netherlands will aim to make it 11 games unbeaten to keep building confidence and momentum.

Their visitors also return to World Cup preparation in fine form, though, having only lost twice in their last 17 games including an Arab Cup penalty shootout loss.

Algeria cruised through African World Cup qualifying to return to the global stage for the first time since 2014, winning their group to with eight victories and just one defeat from 10 matches, scoring 24 goals along the way.

That was followed by Arab Cup and Africa Cup of Nations runs, with the latter ending in quarter-final defeat to Nigeria in January, before they thrashed Guatemala 7-0 in a March friendly and most recently played out a creditable goalless draw with Uruguay in Turin.

Now preparing to head to America with a friendy against Bolivia upcoming and World Cup group-stage games against Argentina, Jordan and Austria between them and another appearance in the knockout stage, Algeria will bid to make a major statement with an away win in Rotterdam.

Whispers predicts: Netherlands 2-0 Algeria

Netherlands have conceded just three goals in their last six matches, while Algeria have also only allowed three in their last seven. As they slowly raise their intensity ahead of the World Cup, we envisage a low-scoring affair. Under 2.5 goals can be backed at 43/40 (2.08).

The hosts are unbeaten in their last 10 matches and unbeaten since 2023 in home games. We fancy Netherlands to win at 19/50 (1.38).

Tijjani Reijnders often takes up an attacking role in Ronald Koeman's Netherlands setup and should continue in the middle of a trio behind a lone striker. He has scored in three of his last five international caps and is priced at 11/4 (3.75) to score anytime.
