After falling short in their search for a first MLS Cup triumph in previous years, Nashville have made an impressive start to the 2026 campaign and currently sit top of the Eastern Conference.

The league's mid-season break brought a halt to their momentum, but Callaghan's side showed no signs of slowing down upon their return, extending their winning run to four matches with a narrow victory over Atlanta United.

Although they were not at their most clinical, Nashville once again demonstrated their ability to grind out results, with Shakur Mohammed's late strike securing all three points.

That victory moved them onto 36 points from 15 matches, four clear of Vancouver at the top of the standings, with their defensive record proving a major factor behind their impressive start.

The Boys in Gold have conceded just 11 goals so far, fewer than any other side in MLS, while their home form has been particularly dominant with seven wins and one draw from eight matches.

As for Montreal, they have endured another difficult campaign after finishing 28th out of 30 teams last season, and they currently look set for another battle near the bottom of the table.

Eullaffroy's side have collected just 15 points from their opening 15 MLS matches, recording four wins, three draws and eight defeats to leave them 24th in the standings.

There have been signs of improvement, however, with Montreal losing just once in their last seven regular-season matches, although four of those games have ended in draws and they remain without a victory in their last four league outings.

The Canadian Championship has provided some encouragement, with Montreal defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 both home and away to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

However, their away record remains a concern ahead their trip to Tennessee, with only four points collected from eight matches on the road.

History also favours the hosts, with Montreal winning just once in 12 previous meetings against Nashville. The Boys in Gold have won seven of those encounters, with the other four ending level.
