It's been a strange six months for the Moroccan national team. On one hand, they are officially the Africa Cup of Nations champions, but the circumstances surrounding their ‘victory' over Senegal will leave an asterisk next to their name in history books.
The pressure and exhaustion caused by their AFCON campaign forced manager Walid Regragui to resign in March. Regragui was the man who had previously led them to a World Cup semi-final in 2022, and his exit could not be described as planned, just three months out from the 2026 World Cup.
Mohamed Ouahbi has taken over in the hot seat, and he has enjoyed a strong start to the job, winning two and drawing one of his three matches in charge.
The match against Madagascar represents another opportunity for Ouahbi to get to know his players more. He will be particularly delighted that his captain, Achraf Hakimi, came through the Champions League final unscathed, but he is not expected to play any part here.
As for Madagascar, this is a chance to test themselves against one of, if not the best, national teams in Africa.
Although they are ranked 104th in the world, Madagascar weren't a million miles away from qualifying for the World Cup themselves. They finished as runners-up to Ghana in their qualifying group and were only eliminated as other runners-up had slightly better records.
Corentin Martins is doing a good job, and their recent form indicates that they can at least give Morocco a game on Tuesday night. Barea have won five of their last seven matches and will be looking forward to AFCON qualifying later in the year.
Njiva Rakotoharimalala, Lalaına Rafanomezantsoa and Marco Ilaimaharitra are the most notable absentees from the Madagascar squad for this one.
